Port Hotel is a contemporary boutique hotel situated on the Royal Parade in Eastbourne with far-reaching sea views, just a stone’s throw from the beach. A lovingly restored Victorian Townhouse hotel, boasting 19 modern bedrooms with a lovely restaurant serving local produce and inviting bar.

The primary duty of a Housekeeper is to maintain cleanliness and tidiness in line with a customer’s expectations or a hotel’s requirements. Housekeepers also inspect rooms to ensure that they meet the required housekeeping standards. While carrying out inspections, they record faults or damages and report them or arrange for repairs. Housekeepers ensure that a hotel stays clean and organised.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to.
Duties and responsibilities
· Assigning cleaning tasks to staff and other organisational duties
· Recording missing or damaged items and arranging for the item’s repair or replacements
· Responding to customer complaints or enquiries immediately and reporting any problems to the Head of Housekeeping or Duty Manager
· Wiping and polishing furniture and fixtures
· Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, cleaning windows and scouring bathrooms
· Maintaining an inventory of household items, uniforms, equipment and furniture
· Establishing and maintaining standard operating procedures for cleaning
· Cleaning and disinfecting equipment at the end of their shift
You may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as we may reasonably require.
Skills and qualifications
· Domestic or commercial cleaning experience
· Firm grasp of general cleaning methods and techniques
· Proficient use of different types of cleaning equipment
· Willingness to maintain confidentiality
· Awareness of health and safety requirements
· Positive and professional attitude
The role is to clean our new hotel rooms with attention to detail, to a very high standard. We have no lift in the hotel so being able to carry / lift linen and cleaning provisions is essential. Working together as a team, staff will benefit from a pooled tips / service charge system.
Hours are 10.00am until 3pm including weekends and bank holidays, with a little flexibility.
