The English Language Speaking Examiner (SE) will be responsible for administering Cambridge Speaking exams for the core group of Cambridge English Language exams (including, but not limited to: FCE, CAE and CPE) primarily on site at the BSC Manchester College.
In order to be considered for this role you must have the required skills, experience and qualifications, as well as availability for a minimum of 3 of the 4 upcoming test dates (March, June, July, and August)
Duties
The SE has a key role in assessing a candidate’s English language ability. The mark for speaking skills ordinarily constitutes at least 20% of the overall score of a candidate. Accurate standardised assessments contribute to the validity of the results. Adherence to Cambridge regulations is critical.
Examiners;
will be required to work a full speaking exam session, conducting multiple tests over several hours.-
are required to work in pairs and must be able to fulfil both assessor roles

SEs must attend a Certification of Procedure meeting and complete Certification of Assessment online every year for each CEFR level for which they examine for.

Will need to liase with the Team Leader and Venue Manager for setting exam schedules
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Required:
-
Two years recent experience of administering Cambridge speaking exams, with up to date Certification of Assessment and Certification of Procedure from Cambridge.

Education to first degree level or equivalent

A recognised language teaching qualification

An understanding of Test Regulations and be committed to ensuring Test Regulations are followed by all candidates.

Essential:

A current DBLA check

Ability to deal with unforeseen circumstances in a professional manner without compromising the integrity and security of the test.

Ability to work as part of the exam assessment team

Professional presentation as a representative of BSC and Cambridge

Speaking Examiners are expected to:

Comply with confidentiality requirements and any instructions with regard to assessment and procedural matters

Be aware of issues relating to candidate privacy

Maintain confidentiality and security in all aspects of examining work at all times, including test materials, candidate assessment, training and other procedures.
