We have two exciting opportunities to join the senior team within our Faculty Operating Service (FOS). As Associate Director of Faculty Operations, you will be the critical link between the University Professional Services and your Faculty ensuring effective and efficient support to the academic community, enabling them to develop ground breaking research, and deliver an outstanding student experience. The FOS team is the integral professional service directly involved in running and maintaining the faculty and are key to driving continual improvements and ensuring best practice.
About the role
Working closely with the Dean of Faculty, and reporting to the Director of Faculty Operations you will provide strategic, high level operational support, ensuring delivery of the Faculty and University strategy. Partnership working, across the FOS, other professional services, faculties, academic schools and the wider university community, will be critical to success. As a member of the Faculty Board, you will focus on the implementation and delivery of strategic business processes, monitoring progress and performance against targets and ensuring good governance. You will also lead a number of key projects within your own Faculty and the wider university.
The positions available are within the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. We welcome an application for one or both of these vacancies.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities draws together a wide range of disciplines into two high-performing schools across several locations in the cities of Southampton and Winchester. The Faculty is recognised nationally and internationally for its sector-leading research, education, knowledge exchange and enterprise, which when combined, create a unique environment for the successful development of more than 2,500 undergraduates.
About you
You will have a proven track record of leading teams and taking responsibility for a significant function which contributes to the overall success of the organisation. With substantial senior management experience, ideally in a higher education environment, you’ll be ready for the challenges of managing significant change. You’ll combine experience of strategic planning, operational effectiveness and project management with effective communication and collaborative working. You’ll also be an innovator, capable of developing new ideas and finding creative solutions to operational issues. The ability to foster partnerships and productive working relationships is vital.
