Roles Available in Location: GSK House (London)

Education required: To apply for this placement, you must be:

Currently studying an Undergraduate Degree in any discipline.

Other requirements: You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK university for the duration of your placement.

If you have already graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme.


Language requirement
: Written and spoken fluency in English

Expected Start date: June 2024

Duration: 1 year (approximately)

Salary: A salary of £23,400 plus a bonus

With a Communications and Positive Action role in ViiV Healthcare you will be part of a team that is integral to our success. You will work in an agile, innovative, and supportive team, with accountability for the delivery of key business projects. Throughout the placement your team will offer support through training and development to ensure that you are able to grow and take away value experiences from the year.

ViiV Communications Executive

The communications team is responsible for external and internal communication, and the digital comms team is accountable for the external platforms. The Industrial Placement student in this team is responsible for maintaining and managing ViiV’s external corporate channels, like the corporate website and global social media channels following our digital strategy and our corporate narrative. The channels are the following - ViiVHealthcare.com, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, TikTok.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the team with web content updates or new content creation. In this role the student works very closely with the content creators and the tech team. Upload press releases and other news updates to our website

  • Social Media channels - Manage social media platform daily (follows, interactions, hiding content, etc.)

  • Support with daily and weekly media monitoring – support corporate communications team by collecting key clips and putting together a weekly summary to inform the broader business. Compile weekly email for distribution. Escalate and report any safety issue (Adverse Events). Work closely with US and ensure alignment with the global channels.

  • Manage content calendars (Global and Local) for our social media channels including US, Global and other markets when need it. Another key piece of the role is producing content for the channels in collaboration with relevant members of the team. (Copy, images, videos). Support on content, structure/design refreshes, and liaising with reviewers as part of the approval process. Focal point to collect global content with different Communications teams. Work closely with the internal communication team to ensure alignment and collaboration between platforms and campaigns.

  • Supporting the paid team with campaign planning and execution where appropriate.

  • Insights - Follow, analyse, and implement insights related to content and channels. In this task the IP works very closely with our GSK insights team and Buzz Radar, our insights partner. Create SM and web reports when needed. Coordinate Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly reports and quarterly insights meetings. Support the development of metrics reporting for milestones and conferences

  • Support the Social Media Governance workstream with updates to the guidance and utilizing this guidance following the plan. Coordinating the monthly Social Media council meeting (attendees, agenda, R&R, notes, etc). Support with any Social Media training for employees and requesting access.

  • Support keeping our main internal channel up to date with relevant content for internal engagement when is necessary and active communications in Workplace


ViiV Positive Action Executive

Positive Action works towards achieving healthy communities in a world free of AIDS and embodies the ViiV Healthcare mission of leaving no person living with HIV behind. Positive Action works directly with the communities most affected by HIV, investing in programmes across six continents through grant giving.

The placement student will support the Positive Action Program Managers and Operations Team with the management of the end-to-end request for proposals process; the management of ‘in flight’ grants and the gathering and sharing of insights and learning gained from grant implementation

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out research to inform the development of request for proposals and support the drafting of relevant documentation.

  • Liaise with the ViiV Communications Team to promote the requests for proposals to ensure proposals are submitted from relevant countries and partners

  • Support the Program Managers in the end-to-end request for proposal process, including supporting the coordination and preparation of relevant grant review and approval meetings

  • Support the Program Managers with contracting of new grants.

  • Support the Program Managers with grant portfolio management, including supporting the management of Positive Action Allies (grant managers)

  • Support the Program Managers with the collation and review of grant reports and the disbursement of learning internally and externally, including supporting the coordination of partner linking and learning sessions. Manage data collation, analysis and presentation when required.

  • Carry out research to inform the Positive Action programme.

  • Work with our grant management platform to optimise the grant process, application build, report development and analytics.
