Job Description
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located in Golden, Colorado, is looking for a limited-term technician to work on two projects funded through industry and federally sources
The successful candidate will have powder to ink formulation experience (handling and weighing small quantities of powders, handling and transferring small volumes using micropipette technique). Thin film processing (spin-coating, blade-coating) experience is a must. Basic characterization techniques include surface profilometry (stylus and/or optical), optical microscope, and UV-vis-NIR. Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Communication skills and detailed note keeping are very important, as well as the ability to work independently and in teams.

Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Substantial acquaintance with and understanding of general aspects of the job with a broad understanding of the detailed aspects of the job. Intermediate to advanced skills in research techniques and practices. Good written, verbal, team, interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Required Qualifications
This role requires experience in fabricating thin films of organic polymer and molecular semiconductors used for organic photovoltaics, using blade and spin-coating techniques. Experience working in fume hoods as well as in glove boxes is needed, especially in handling small quantities of powders and liquids to prepare and manipulate liquid solutions. Safety and research space stewardship is a high priority and training to become a Designated Area Representative will be expected. Basic sample characterization skills needed include profilometry techniques, UV-vis-NIR, and optical microscopy. Other expectations include: exceptional note-keeping and data organization, proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, for organizing and communicating results, ability to work independently and as part of a team. The role will be one part of a larger/broader work flow, so communication and effective work planning is a must to coordinate with others on the team.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Chemistry is preferred, with experience listed in the job description

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Job Profile: Research Technician II / Annual Salary Range: $47,800 - $76,500
