We create smart innovations to meet the mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. We design and manufacture a complete range of transportation systems, from high-speed trains to electric buses and driverless trains, as well as infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility solutions.
Alstom is the UK & Ireland’s leading supplier of new trains and train services, and a leading signalling and rail infrastructure provider. Alstom have built, or are building, just under 40% of the UK mainline train fleet; as well as the entire fleets in service with London Underground, and Dublin Luas.
We provide the widest range of smart solutions in the rail market, from innovative high-speed rolling stock, metros and trams to maintenance, modernisation, infrastructure and signalling.
Employing 6000 people, we design and build trains at Derby, the UK’s largest train factory; and operate major sites at Widnes, Crewe, Ilford and Plymouth, and 30 train services depots across the UK and Ireland.
Furthermore, having been selected as part of a joint venture to design, build and maintain the HS2 rolling stock, we have also been shortlisted for the corresponding signalling contract.
Our Signalling and Infrastructure business is underpinned by the winning of framework contracts for Network Rail’s, with a potential value of £750 million and the large Bristol Area Signalling Renewals and Enhancement project and the Leeds Station Capacity Upgrade Programme.

The Opportunity
You will be joining a two year intensive training programme with a series of placements around the business, providing a firm foundation in the application of knowledge of your chosen function and the skills, tools and techniques within it. You will undertake a series of rotations around the company gaining an understanding of the business and the service operation lifecycle.
You will have the opportunity to complete on the job learning, which is complemented by a modular personal development programme. Supported by a mentor, you will be able to work towards gaining a relevant professional qualification.
The exposure to these functions within the organisation generates unique opportunities for talented individuals to develop leadership skills, responsibilities and drive them to use their full potential.

This two year training programme is the start of your progression into leadership and technical expert roles. We are looking for innovative and ambitious talent to become our future leaders and senior managers- upon completion of the graduate talent programme, there will be the opportunity to step up into these roles.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:
You will need a minimum 2:1 Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a business or technical related subject such as Business, Finance or Supply Chain/Logistics.
Candidates would also have excellent problem solving, teamwork and strong analytical skills, as well as resilience and a good attention to detail. Strong leadership qualities and a passion for making things happen are of value to this role.
