JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Strategy Programme Manager, this role will support the successful delivery and co-ordination of Scotland’s food and drink industry strategy which launches in Summer 2023, which sets out the vision and roadmap for Scotland’s vibrant food and drink industry for the next decade. Delivery of the strategy is overseen by Scotland Food & Drink on behalf of the Scotland Food & Drink Partnership and supported by the Scottish Government. A comprehensive delivery plan, which consists of a portfolio of strategic programmes, is how we will achieve the ambitions set out in the strategy.
The Strategy Programme Coordinator will oversee the delivery of 2-3 programmes that deliver against the strategy’s missions, themes and priorities. In this role, you will build relationships with internal and external delivery partners to maximise project successes individually and collectively. You will also play a key role in championing SF&D’s corporate project management system and tools.

ABOUT THE TEAM
The Strategy Programme Coordinator will be located within the Strategy and Policy team of Scotland Food & Drink. The team is responsible for developing strategic leadership for the food and drink sector and the co-ordination of partner activity to support industry growth. This includes:
- Delivery of the national food and drink strategy for Scotland.
- Relationship development with Scottish Government, UK Government and other key industry and public-sector partners.
- Defining the sector’s positioning and influencing activity on major policy areas including trade, labour shortages and the Just Transition to Net Zero.
ABOUT THE ROLE
· Building relationships with individual Programme Sponsors to ensure programmes are scoped and aligned to the strategic priorities of the national food and drink strategy.
· Support the development and subsequently the delivery of detailed action plans for the programmes with support from the Programme Sponsor, Programme Working Group and project and action leads.
· Support prioritisation of the programme workstreams, highlighting key dependencies and connections, potential pressure points and key milestones.
· Monitor and report on the programme activities according to the evaluation framework and recommend any changes to enhance the programme.
· Preparing reports and updating Programme Sponsors and other stakeholders about the programme.
· Management of the programme budget including producing regular financial reports.
· Risk/issue management and escalation.
· Handling of any contracts with delivery partners, contractors or other stakeholders.
· Championing project management best practice across the programme.
ABOUT YOU
· A proven background in successfully managing larger scale projects or programmes with multiple partners and stakeholders, internal and external.
· Exemplary interpersonal, communications and influencing skills, with the ability to forge strong working relationships with colleagues and a wide range of external stakeholders.
· Confident working and engaging with senior stakeholders with experience of providing assurance and reporting to programme boards.
· Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills – experience of strategic writing, producing business cases, programme/project board documentation and reports with high attention to detail.
· Excellent analytical skills with experience of governance and budget processes.
· Strong organisational and time-management skills with proven ability to work to a deadline and manage competing priorities.
· A flexible and proactive approach with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
· Willingness to travel and attend events outside normal working hours when required.
· Good understanding of, or affinity for, the Scottish food and drink sector and the wider Scottish / UK policy environment is desirable.
