For the past five years, Hive Learning has helped some of the world's most influential organisations create and embed culture change digitally and at scale. And in the past 18 months, our mission has become even more urgent. We specialise in accelerating culture change in areas like inclusion, mental health, sustainability, and innovation –– areas that today are more critical today than they have ever been.
And our approach works. 88% of our learners change their behaviour thanks to our unique approach. Our technology combines network science and nudge theory and everything we do is underpinned by a five-part methodology developed from studying over 20,000 change programs and real-world social movements. In short, we're on a mission to disrupt the outdated and ineffective world of corporate learning and help corporate learning teams overcome one of their biggest challenges — holding every person in their organisation accountable for their behaviours and making sure change sticks.
We're looking to recruit a People and Operations Manager who will have lead responsibility for all people related matters both in the UK and the US, and support our CEO to implement key cultural and strategic initiatives. You'll be responsible for developing and delivering on our people strategy alongside our CEO and leadership team, helping us to create a supportive and inclusive working culture, and helping our growing company scale and run smoothly.
This would be a great opportunity for a Junior HRBP to take the next step in their career in leading the HR function for a team of 60+ employees, plus add more operational and strategic experience. But we aren't limiting our search to people with HR experience as our investors have a central HR function that we can get support from for anything technical. The most important thing is that you are a quick learner, love people and culture, and get a kick from getting varied work done efficiently and effectively.
Your main goals will be to:
- Lead on all aspects of recruitment and onboarding new teammates in both the UK and the US
- Build on our culture of continuous learning and personal development by partnering with team leaders and employees to find the right development and progression opportunities for individuals, including leading training sessions using our Work Out templates and materials from our parent company's training arm
- Coordinate and lead on company-wide team building and strategy days and All-Hands meetings
- Support senior team to roll out and track company wide goals and objective setting
- Run performance management and personal development processes
- Ensure that working practices and office environment support the business values and empower employees to do their best work every day
- Manage our HR system (BambooHR), policies and benefits
- Be a trusted place that teammates can turn to with any questions or problems
- Aggregate data from multiple sources such as OfficeVibe / engagement surveys, exit interviews and performance reviews to create people and culture insight on a regular basis to help inform senior team decisions and strategies
- Identify culture, talent and operational opportunities and propose initiatives, systems or new processes/policies to help the company thrive as it grows
- Support managers in all aspects of employment law, and best practices for people management (with support from our parent company where needed)
- Ad hoc support to the CEO on special projects and operations, including coordinating key reports and meetings/events
- You're smart and have a good base level understanding of how a business operates and how the different functions interact, you've probably had 3 years+ working in corporate environment, possibly even a central service function (e.g. operations, HR, legal, business support etc)
- You're an infinite learner, with a passion for building a learning culture across an organisation
- You thrive in an autonomous environment, you're proactive and happy to get stuck into varied work and tasks
- You're a true people person; passionate about making new connections and helping people grow and develop
- You're highly organised, can manage a busy workload and comfortable with managing prioritisation
- You're a clear communicator, with the ability to see things from many perspectives
- You enjoy solving a problem and don't mind if you have to create a new process, document or policy from scratch
- You love collaboration, accept feedback readily, and seek out others' viewpoints
- You are keen to learn more about employment law in the UK and US
- You have a passion for DEI, and are able to create and maintain inclusive policies and procedures
If this job speaks to you but you're not sure you have the "right" experience, we'd love you to apply anyway and tell us why you'd be great for this role in your cover letter.

We work really hard on our culture, and we're committed to creating a supportive, growth-minded and inclusive team. Everything we do is underpinned by our four key values;
- Experts, but not always right; we embrace feedback, listen hard and respect everyone
- Substance before "sizzle"; we're humble, outcomes focused and do what we say we're going to do
- Caring and courageous; we invest in relationships, are honest and supportive with feedback and proactive problem-solvers
- Evergreen entrepreneurs; we embrace ambiguity, celebrate failure and know when 'good enough' is better than perfect
We love working here, but we get that our culture may not be right for everyone. Here's a few reasons why working at Hive Learning may not be right for you:
- Things move quickly here, and priorities can frequently change
- There's heaps of opportunity to grow and develop, and move whichever way you want to, but careers here aren't always linear or particularly well mapped out yet. So you have to be comfortable leaning into your role and being curious, and in return we'll try and find work for you that makes you tick and grow
- We work really hard - sometimes the days are long and intense, but it's worth it for the results you'll be able to see! And you can always take the time back!
- We really do love feedback, the good and the constructive - so make sure that's something you're comfortable with
- Whilst we love home working, now is a very key time for us as a business as we grow to be together to innovate and build relationships, so if you want to be at home more than in an office then this will not be the right role for you right now!
If you're still interested, we'd love to hear from you! After reviewing your application, if it seems like a good fit, we'll contact you to arrange a quick screening call. After that, it's typically a two-stage interview, with a task or scenario thrown in too, but we'll give you all the details during the screening call.
If you require any reasonable adjustments throughout the interview process, please let us know!
We strongly encourage candidates of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. We are committed to making Hive Learning an inclusive and supportive workplace.
