Band 7 Clinical Pharmacist (or band 6 with progression to 7), 0.6 WTE + EDC (remote).

An opportunity has arisen within our team for an enthusiastic & highly motivated pharmacist with excellent communication skills to provide high quality Mental Health clinical pharmacy services. If you have a passion for delivering optimal patient care & can demonstrate this through the 6Cs of care, compassion, courage, communication, competence & commitment then we would like to hear from you.

This position offers the chance to develop clinical, operational and managerial skills. Applicants should be able to work within a team, be proactive & have a keen interest in mental health. Mental health experience is desirable but not essential; the successful applicant will be supported in obtaining the required knowledge once in post.

There is no weekend/late night working other than remote on-call which you will participate in. For a band 7 post, you will have at least 2 years post-registration experience, be completing or have completed clinical pharmacy post-graduate study and possess well-developed clinical pharmacy skills. For the band 6 post, newly qualified pharmacists with an interest in mental health will be considered. Applicants must be registered pharmacists with the GPhC or due to register later this year.

Main duties of the job

You will contribute to the planning and delivery of specialist mental health clinical pharmacy services as part of the pharmacy team. This will include working as a member of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that pharmaceutical care needs of patients are met, ensuring
that medicines management standards are upheld in all areas of the trust & providing education on safe & effective use of medication to medical & nursing staff, patients & carers. The post holder will provide
professional support & supervision to pre-registration & student pharmacists.

Recruitment and Retention Payment:


**If you are an external applicant and successfully appointed to this role you could receive £4,500 in recruitment and retention payments (T&Cs apply)**


If you apply and are successfully appointed to this role, you will receive an initial recruitment payment of £1,500 on commencement in post, in addition to your salaried pay.


If you stay in this role for 12 months, you will receive another payment of £1,500, and a final payment of £1,500 if you are still with us after 24 months.

Terms and conditions apply. If you leave the Trust within six months of receiving a recruitment or retention payment, you will need to repay the instalment amount in full. If you leave between six and 12 months of receiving the payment, you will need to repay 50% of the instalment.

All new clinical support staff will be required to have completed or working towards the Care Certificate (CWP In-house 2 day training to be completed within 6 months of start date).

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £13 per year applies.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Currently or will be registered as practising pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (where applicable)
  • Evidence of competency based training and final exams.
Desirable criteria
  • Member of Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
  • Member of CMHP.
  • Post graduate clinical or mental health pharmacy qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good IT skills – Windows, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, e-mail and web applications.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance, clinical audit and risk management
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working.
  • Basic knowledge of mental health therapeutics.
  • Knowledge of NHS policy process and guidelines relating to medicines management, pharmacy and mental health.
  • Specialist knowledge of mental health therapeutics

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working in hospital or community pharmacy
  • Post registration experience working in hospital pharmacy
Desirable criteria
  • Recent hospital clinical experience.
  • Experience in education and training
