Vaughan is your place to grow.Position OverviewResponsible for the operation of recreational facilities and related equipment; performs maintenance and janitorial duties of the same, ensures the facilities are safe for usage by the public and staff, and completes all associated and required documentations. Conducts ice, floor, pool and facility maintenance utilizing a variety of equipment/vehicles, including ice resurfaces, sweepers, hand tools and power tools. Performs duties in accordance with applicable legislations and standards, including Technical Standards & Safety Authority ('TSSA'), York Region Public Health, Provincial regulations and Municipal by-laws. Organizes and oversees the work of part time attendants. Responds to inquiries from the public, resolving or referring complaints as necessary and liaises with public users of facilities daily, and provides satisfactory customer service.Qualifications and ExperienceSecondary School Graduate or suitable equivalentMinimum two (2) years related experience in facility operations including at least one (1) year of arena and/or swimming pool and HVAC equipment.Certified Pool Operator Designation (CPO)Standard First Aid/CPR certificateKnowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Pool and Spa Regulation and Operating Engineers Act.Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public staffPossess a valid Ontario G class driver's license, with access to reliable vehicle for business purposes.Ability to work rotating shifts including evening, weekends and holidays, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.Ability to deal with complaints and exposure to potentially impatient, angry or predictable people.Performing duties inside and outside Community Centre with exposure to changing and potentially adverse and extreme weather conditions throughout the year.Daily exposure to noisy environments and hazardous materials (i.e., pool filter rooms, arena compressor rooms).Performs many repetitive daily tasks requiring alertness; course physical movement (i.e., sweeping, mopping, shoveling, etc.) and coordination of fine movement (i.e. changing filters, changing lightbulbs, use of small hand tools, etc.).Ability to perform tasks requiring heavy activity of long duration (i.e., stooping, kneeling, crouching, working in awkward positions, etc.).Ability to work at heights and perform lifting of objects (50-75lbs.).Successful candidate(s) will be required to submit a current driver's abstract and a current, clear Vulnerable Sector Check from an accredited police service prior to employment.We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
