Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the Primary Health Care Lead, the incumbent will provide expert knowledge and skills on a wide range of issues from advocacy to assessment to case management. As a member of a primary health care (PHC) Diabetic education Centre team, the PHC Dietitian provides a range of PHC services. These services include, but may not be limited to, health promotion, illness prevention, screening, treatment and monitoring of people living with diabetes. Expertise may also be required to support people living with other chronic health problems, community development and advocacy. The incumbent will be required to collaborate with others to increase community capacity as an educator, researcher and clinical practitioner. These services are provided within a holistic, client/family centred care framework.The incumbent will provide health assessment, interventions and appropriate follow up in accordance with acts, regulations, policies, standards, guidelines, mission and objectives of the Registered Dietitians of Canada, the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association, the Department of Health and Wellness - Province of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Health Authority.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition at a recognized universityDietetic internship (a 1 year integrated or post graduate program)Current Membership in Nova Scotia Dietetic Association requiredAnnual continuing education to maintain Nova Scotia licenseTwo years clinical experience preferredMembership in Dietitians of Canada preferredCurrent CPR/BLS certification is requiredCommunity based/primary care experience an assetDesignation as a Certified Diabetes Educator preferredExperience with group educationDemonstrated time management and organizational skillsFamiliarity with principles of Motivational InterviewingExhibits creative problem-solving ability; Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient careComputer proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint), email and internetAbility to work well independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsEffective research and analytical thinking skillsCompetencies in other languages an asset; French preferredPlease ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.HoursPermanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly.Shifts may include days, evenings and weekendsCompensation and Benefits$32.94 - $43.42 HourlySuccessful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.Once You've AppliedThank you for your interest in this position.
