Job Title : Surgical TechLocation : Modesto, CAPay Rate : $55 per hourJOB DESCRIPTION :Under the direction and leadership of the OR Charge Nurse & DOO, the Operating Room Technician is a professional responsible for scrubbing on all cases, maintaining appropriate equipment and supplies, and assisting the Operating Room Staff in maintaining the daily running of the Operating Room by carrying out support assignments. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assumes responsibility for own professional development and practice Develops professional goals Follows and adheres to all hospital policies and protocols Practice within Joint Commission, Title 22 and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations, HCAI and other regulatory bodies. Critical Thinking o Anticipates equipment and supply needs o Remains calm in emergent situations o Prioritizes and multi-tasks o Time management skills o Flexible in dealing with change o Follows chain of command Role Model o Has a positive can-do attitude o Demonstrates caring and compassion o Uses diplomacy in difficult situations o Addresses complaints in a professional mannerJOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESComplies with established hospital customer service standards.Responsible for performing as a scrub technician on all surgical cases.Responsible for performing all assigned support duties as the Float Technician; in a manner that provides high-quality and safe patient care.Responsible for providing sterile and unsterile instrumentation/equipment, linen and supply set-ups for surgical procedures.Responsible for observing and maintaining aseptic technique throughout operative procedures.Assist RN with specimen handling during surgery according to OR protocol for handling of specimens, SSH Safety Policy and Infection Control.Consistently observes and anticipates each step of surgical procedures.Must take part in an ON CALL rotation, weekend, and holiday coverage system, as required. Ability to participate in late room coverageAssembles equipment necessary for specialty procedures under aseptic conditions.Responsible for assembling all instrumentation, supplies, equipment for cases, add-ons, and pulling instrumentation in advanceAssisting personnel assigned to the room to turn over and set up for the next caseResponsible for making sure instrumentation is sterilized between cases, for the next case.Prepare and set up all equipment needed for the case including but not limited to microscopes, bovies, power, and video equipment. Assist with picking cases 2-3 days in advanceAwareness of the religious, ethical, and cultural differences among various population groups. Responsible for training all new personnel on operative procedures to include draping of operative site when appropriateResponsible for assisting in keeping Surgeon Preference Cards current.Responsible for carrying out support assignments required to keep the OR's stocked and organized.Practice effective inter and intra-departmental communication skills. Ability to work overtime when conditions require additional hours of patient servicesResponsible for making sure the patients x-rays are available for the case.Acts as a liaison between the OR and Sterile Processing Department.Responsible for returning all extra supplies, instrumentation, and equipment to their proper locations after each case. Coordinate with OR Charge Nurse in reviewing the preliminary schedule in order to request specialty instruments, equipment, and supplies Other duties as assignedJOB SPECIFICATIONS MINIMUM EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONSHigh school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an Operating Room Technician training course or certification after on the job trainingMust be able to understand written and verbal communication in EnglishBasic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)Instant Serve LLC
