Company DescriptionFerrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.What is the project?A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).Stations:One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).The benefits to Ontario!Faster, more frequent, and reliable access to rapid transit with more than 227,500 people will live within a 10-minute walk of an Ontario Line station.Improve the quality of life for commuters by reducing daily travel time.Reduce crowding on the existing Line 1 (Yonge-University) subway.Up to 57,000 more jobs accessible by transit (in 45 minutes or less) for Toronto residents.Economic and community growth along the future transit line and thousands of job opportunities annually during construction.Reduction in traffic congestion, greenhouse gases, and fuel consumption by providing an alternative transportation option.Please note this is a co-op role that is estimated to start in September 2024 for an eight-month or twelve-month term.Job DescriptionThis position provides project specific leadership and management in subcontract management and administration of engineered equipment, site works, professional services, and permanent plant materials. Responsibilities include managing a staff of field subcontract administrators and subcontract coordinators while interfacing with Project senior management, engineering management and design professionals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but is not necessarily limited to the following:Develop and manage construction project subcontract and material contract administration and control procedures from inception to completion.Act as single point of contact and accountability for overall subcontract and material contract administration.Ensure contract handler conformance to contract provisions and assist contract handers with contract correspondence.Oversee preparation of change orders, claims identification and contract handler administration.Oversee all subcontract payment provisions and payment approvals.Resolve subcontractor grievances, and claims.Review subcontractor claims and contracts for conformance to project policy.Oversee administration of subcontract management systems.Communicate and enforce subcontracting policies & procedures to project team.Provide training to ensure policies & procedures are followed.QualificationsMasters degree preferred. Must have a BA/BS in business, engineering, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent degree and/or a minimum of 10 -15 years experience in engineering and/or construction or equivalent work/field experience.Knowledge of equipment and materials common in Design and Build projectsKnowledge of Canadian construction Industry and Ontario Construction ActDetail-oriented, flexible and highly motivated with a strong work ethic and professional demeanorEffective time management and organizational skillsAbility to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accuratelyExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsTeam player with the ability to also work independently to meet fixed deadlines, goals and objectives.Strong leadership and people management skillsAdvanced knowledge in risk evaluation, claims mitigation and dispute resolutionStrong leadership, management, communication, and coaching skillsAdditional InformationWe Offer:Competitive SalaryWhy OTG?Welcome to Ontario Transit Group (OTG), located in the heart of Downtown Toronto, where diversity and passion collide.
