Principal Advisor Engineering DesignBe part of a team of senior technical experts in our new Innovation, Science & Technology GroupShape and assure the piloting and demonstration of the Group's most material new technologiesPermanent role based in Perth or Bundoora, AUS.About the RoleFinding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.We are looking for driven, focussed professionals with deep expertise in engineering design, commissioning, and technical support to drive the piloting and demonstration of new technologies for the Group.This is a great opportunity to showcase your proven experience in developing technology and ensuring the delivery of these for the benefit of the wider Group.Reporting to the Head of Engineering Office, you will be responsible for:Developing the strategies for the piloting and demonstration of the most material first-of-a-kind R&D technologies for the next decadeEnsuring the Group rolls these out thorough pilots and demonstrations in a way that maximises speed and valueShape and assure these via your expertise in engineering systems and next-generation technology, and fostering a high-performance culture within teams that you bring together for execution of these projectsDriving the collection and sharing of learnings and good practices in piloting and industrial demonstration across the GroupContributing to the assurance and governance of critical engineering processes/approaches, including partnering and technology transfer required for successful pilots, demonstrations and implementationDeveloping and maintaining partnerships with external engineering houses to support R&D teams in delivery of pilots and demonstrationsStanding up key test beds/ facilities including next-generation simulation models to accelerate technology deliveryEngaging with RT Projects & Studies project teams to integrate new technology development into Greenfield Studies and ProjectsProviding expert input to Investment and Evaluation Committees, with next-generation technology delivery assuranceWorking with Product Group and Functional partners on budgeting and resourcing requirements for pilots and demonstrations, and associated impact on plan deliveryProviding thought leadership within a community of engineering practice in effective innovation deliveryWhat you'll bringTo succeed in this role, you should have:Postgraduate qualifications in Engineering or a PhD, and ideally be a Chartered Engineer or equivalent.Significant experience in multiple commodities and engineering disciplines (processing, chemical, extractive metallurgy, mechanical, electrical etc.), and operational technologies (OT)Extensive experience in engineering design, commissioning and technical supportExtensive industry knowledge and production experienceIn-depth understanding of the heavy industry sector including knowledge of industry trendsA proven ability in sensing and developing technology strategies, and informing corporate strategyAn ability to engage internally with Senior Leaders, Engineers and Technicians and externally with engineering housesProven experience in leading small and large teams, and influencing beyond the lineExperience in delivering breakthrough and enabling technologiesDeep knowledge and experience driving innovation at pace, implementing disruptive technologies, and delivering new technologies in high-hazard environmentsAn ability to identify and prioritise technology areas of the highest strategic interestIf you are applying for the role based in Montreal, Quebec, fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
