UHN is a caring, creative place where amazing people are amazing the world.Job DescriptionUnion: ONA (1 Position)Site: Toronto General HospitalDepartment: Surgical Oncology - Gyne Onc, Urology, Head, Neck & PlasticsReports to: ManagerHours: 37.5 hours per weekSalary: $39.07 - $56.00 per hour (start rate in accordance with collective agreement)Status: Permanent Full-TimeClosing Date: July 25, 2024This inpatient unit is one of the largest head and neck & plastics program in the country. As part of the surgical oncology program, we also care for patients having gyne oncology and urology surgery. We have 4 step-down beds on the unit for closer observation and monitoring.Our strong inter-professional team cares for patients recovering from major and minor head and neck and plastic resections /reconstructions. Nurses on this unit are experts in airway management, flap monitoring, leech therapy and psychosocial assessments and support.The program focuses on cancers affecting:Oral Cavity (Lip and mouth)LarynxPharynx (nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx)Salivary glandsNasal Cavities and sinusesThyroid & upper trachesBreast requiring reconstructionSkin (melanoma/basal cell)Other Head and Neck MalignanciesQualificationsCurrent registration with the College of Nurses of OntarioBasic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S) certificationPrevious experience in E.N.T. and plastic surgeryStrong interpersonal and communication skillsMust be flexible, and possess the ability to work effectively and efficiently within a variety of patient care teamsExcellent organizational, time management and decision making skillsB.Sc.N. preferredComputer literacy an assetVaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.Additional InformationWhy join UHN?In addition to working alongside some of the most talented and inspiring healthcare professionals in the world, UHN offers a wide range of benefits, programs and perks.
