Apply your exceptional standards as Assistant Director of Engineering, where you will implement preventative maintenance and resource management programs in support of a safe and welcoming hotel for all Colleagues, guests and visitors.What is in it for you:An inclusive, empowering, and positive workplace, where we place people at the heart of everything we doThe opportunity to have fun at work alongside passionate hospitality professionals who strive to make the world a more welcoming placeThe opportunity to live, work and play across the world through our employee travel and internal transfer programsA competitive salary starting at $80,000 with annual compensation reviews based on market, performance, and capabilitiesComplimentary meal through our Colleague Dining ProgramComplimentary dry-cleaning of business attireComplimentary hotel stay with breakfast for two through our BE OUR GUEST programEmployee benefit card offering discounted room and food & beverage rates at Fairmont & Accor properties worldwideThe opportunity to work in a luxury hotel environment and a Vancouver heritage building with a historic legacy dating back to 1939Free learning programs through our Academies and discounted eCornell coursesAbility to make a difference through our Corporate Social Responsibility activitiesAnnual paid vacation, sick leave, up to statutory holidays and birthday leaveA comprehensive benefits package including extended medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability benefitsA company-matched pension plan and ability to enroll in the Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan (GRSP)A monthly travel reimbursement for TransLink monthly passesWhat you will be doing:Reporting to the Chief Engineer, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging serviceAssist in the day to day management of the Engineering department and ensure all standards are followedAct as the hotel’s designated chief engineer and ensure the building is adequately supervised and appropriately staffedCoordinate preventive maintenance program for guest rooms, public areas and safety systems with a focus to improve efficiency, profitability and service levelsEnsure hotel complies with all government regulations pertaining to building code requirements, health, fire and life safety programsUnderstand and own all Heart of House systems including electrical, power, internet, and technologyMonitor, update and implement the fire safety plan, building evacuation and disaster recovery planEnsure prompt and immediate response to maintenance requests for guests and ColleaguesOversee ongoing maintenance, repair and preventative maintenance for the Hotel with a focus to improve efficiency, profitability and service levelsFollow the annual maintenance budgetAssist in the monitoring of energy and water management programsRecruit, schedule, conduct performance reviews, train and develop engineering ColleaguesLead the Planet 21 Committee by hosting monthly meetings and sharing knowledge of brand’s sustainability policies & procedures (i.e. waste, charitable giving, etc.)Balance operational, administrative and Colleague needsAct as a role model for our Accor values and Heartist cultureFollow departmental policies and proceduresFollow all safety policiesOther duties as assignedQualificationsYour experience and skills include:4th Class Power Engineer certificate requiredMinimum 2-3 years’ leadership experience in a similar role requiredHighly organized, results-oriented, able to make decisions and empower employees to ensure they exceed guest expectationsComputer literate in Microsoft Window applications requiredEngineering degree/diploma or related discipline preferredProven ability to supervise multiple complex projects with a focus on resultsExcellent communication and organizational skillsStrong interpersonal and problem solving abilitiesHighly responsible & reliable with exceptional attention to detailAbility to work cohesively as part of a teamAbility to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all timesAbility to work flexible schedule, including weekends, overnights, and holidays, as hours of work and days off will vary according to business needsYour team and working environment:Constant standing and walking throughout shiftFrequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbsFrequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, bendingOccasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and rampsAdditional InformationVisa Requirements:Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
