Company DescriptionFowler Welch operates in the fresh produce sector providing time critical logistics solutions for major retailers, growers and manufacturers across the UK.At Culina Group we have a winning culture, we believe that our culture is one of the reasons our company continues to thrive… A place where you're valued, challenged, and inspired!Job DescriptionReporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible to deliver an efficient and cost-effective warehousing solution to accommodate the requirements of the Aylesford operation and achieve the necessary service levels whilst operating within the legal limits. Monitoring daily operational targets/costs and Key Performance Indicators, ensuring these take into account Company standards and agreed Customer service level parameters during your shift.Working hours: Monday to Friday , 08.00-18.00Salary: £38,000 - £44,000 per annum (DOE)Key Duties of a Warehouse Compliance Shift Manager:Ensure all practices and procedures are carried out in line with legislation and Company Health & Safety policy, BRC Legislation and HACCPTo liaise closely with Site Managers within the Aylesford Depot to ensure understanding of each-other’s issues, joint resolution of problems and achieve efficiencies between the departmentsTo ensure staff rota, allocation and resource is planned to meet operational requirements, at all times without incurring unnecessary cost/service levels to the operation.Ensure that company standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained at all timesTo attend management meetings as appropriate and produce management reports and statistics as requested.To liaise regularly with operations and all other departments and sites to develop strong working relationships.Maintain department discipline including time keeping, conduct and performance using the Company disciplinary policy and procedures with the support of HR and escalating issues when necessary.Oversee the effective application of the Company absence policy and procedures including monitoring of absence levels and conducting return to work discussions.Engage in proactive performance management programmes, process improvement solutions and a proactive evolution of Warehouse operations at Aylesford – to implement, standardise and maintain a best in class operation in accordance with company process and procedures.Ensure that all requirements for Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and compliance policies and standards are met by delivering effective induction and refresher training to new and existing site colleaguesBrief and coach site teams on updated or new ways of working, standards, how to guides, risk assessments, safe systems of work and SHEQ alertsDeliver and co-ordinate all Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Compliance Standard related events/updates to new and existing colleaguesWith the support of the appropriate central departments provide coaching, training and guidance to the site shift management and supervisory teams to comply with internal and external audit requirements and close out any non-conformance requirements after auditUndertake regular BRC Auditing, to ensure attainment of site BRC accreditation, following up on BRC non-conformance providing feedback to Warehouse ManagerEnsure Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Allergen procedures and standards are complied with on siteCompletion of site audits to ensure site assurance and risk reduction requirementsEnsure Fire Safety Standards, tests and drill requirements and Fire Risk Assessment Report actions are completedUndertake and manage regular review of site risk assessments, safe systems of work, method statements and contractor permits to workIdentify and review compliance key performance indicators and suggest improvements and efficiencies to better meet business/legal requirementsManage all site facility and maintenance contractor requirementsManage all site compliance document control requirements, corrective and preventative actions and trend analysisUndertake all site accident investigation requirements for PI and or Vehicle Collisions, determining appropriate follow up actions, devising and delivering trainingMaintain training records for all colleaguesMaintain MHE filesLine Manager responsibility for Warehouse Trainer, Site Services Operative and Hygiene OperativesQualificationsManagement experience within a warehouse environmentExperience of a fast-moving distribution environment.Previous experience of strong people managementFlexible, enthusiastic and positive approach.Able to cope under pressure and prioritise demandsWarehouse Health & Safety legislationWarehouse Auditing and BRC complianceOperational methods and procedures relating to the FMCG industryProven track record of working to Key Performance IndicatorsExperience of using warehouse management systemsHigh level of IT skills such as Word, Excel, and PowerPointUnderstanding/Qualification of IOSH is desirableAdditional InformationAs part of our drive to make Fowler Welch a great place to work.
