Our vision is to be recognised and respected leaders in whole-of-government policy and performance.About the roleAs the Chair of DPC's Audit and Risk Management Committee, you will provide advice to the DPC Secretary on matters relating to the financial performance and management of the department.You will lead the Committee in its review of financial reporting and consideration of the extent of compliance against relevant legislation and policies. Contributing to the governance of DPC, you will engage with senior executive leaders, internal and external auditors, independent members, and other parties. You will provide the DPC Secretary with assurance around the effectiveness of relevant systems, controls and processes that safeguard the sustainability of the department including delivering the Committee's obligations outlined in its charter.About youAs the Chair of DPC's Audit and Risk Management Committee, you play a key role in the governance of the department and will demonstrate integrity, objectivity, and transparency in your dealings.Key selection criteriaFamiliar with key reforms and initiatives of the Victorian Government and behaves in a manner which is consistent with the values of the Victorian Public Sector.Equipped to offer different perspectives to management and make constructive suggestions on improving departmental systems and controls.Able to enquire, evaluate and make independent judgement and be objective in deliberations, decisions, and advice.Relevant qualifications in financial accounting or similar would be highly advantageous.Demonstrated experience as an audit committee chair or comparable experience as an independent member of similar public sector audit committees is desirable.Proven expertise in applying the Australian accounting standards and preparing general purpose financial statements.A thorough knowledge of Australian auditing standards or experience with internal audit controls and procedures for financial reporting.Experience and qualificationsRelevant qualifications in financial accounting or similar would be highly advantageous.Demonstrated experience as an audit committee chair or comparable experience as an independent member of similar public sector audit committees is desirable.Proven expertise in applying the Australian accounting standards and preparing general purpose financial statements.A thorough knowledge of Australian auditing standards or experience with internal audit controls and procedures for financial reportingThe closing date for this position is 29 July 2024.How to applyApply before the advertised closing date, all applications should include:a resumea cover letter which addresses the key selection criteria, experience and qualifications (within three pages)This position is only open to applicants with relevant rights to work in Australia.Other relevant information:Preferred candidates will be required to complete a Declaration of Private Interest.
