English Teacher – 9th grade 1.0, Twin Cities High SchoolSummary: Provide English instruction in small size classroom and support students with individualized instruction. Working with the English Department and other 9th grade ELA teachers, goal is to assist struggling students in their first year of high school. Diverse student population at this private Minneapolis High School (not a charter school).Details:English proficiency required and at least 2 years of English teaching experience in a classroom preferred.Teaching license not required.Ability to work with the English Department and build customized learning plans for students, in both classroom and individual settings.Tutor students individually to increase their English understanding and bring them closer to expected grade level.Participate in all professional development and all-school activities as part of the teaching community.Attention to detail and reporting; daily hours reporting + monthly progress reports for student and parent.Increase parental involvement in student success.Keep office hours during school periods when not in classroom sessions; encourage student engagement.Spanish speaking desired but not required.This is a Title funded position and works in concert with the school to test and identify students needing additional support to achieve grade level. Once students are identified, this position will be the teacher for those students during regularly scheduled English time. Typically, classroom sizes are 4 – 8 students per session. You will also provide one-on-one tutoring to students.
