POSTING DATE: July 17, 2024SUMMARYThe State Reporting and Compliance Coordinator coordinates all aspects of mandatory Michigan and federal reporting for Marquette-Alger RESA. Responsibilities include creating processes for timely pupil accounting data submissions, overseeing and assisting users of Student Information Systems (SIS), and configuring PowerSchool. The Coordinator supports the Agency’s Special Education (SE) System of General Supervision in areas such as conducting root cause analyses, performing SE data reviews, and assisting with SE monitorings. This position serves as the RESA’s State Assessment Coordinator and Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) Coordinator.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in finance, public administration, business administration, education or related field.Five years of experience related to state reporting,special education, compliance, regulations, and/or use of relational databasesDemonstrated ability to:Organize short and long term projectsEstablish and maintain filing systems (physical and electronic)Problem-solve and apply principles of logical thinkingMeet deadlines and ensure compliance with state, federal and grant requirementsDemonstrated experience using educational data to diagnose issues and recommend data-supported solutionsProficiency with software/applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and ZoomExcellent filing and organizational skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsMust demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independentlyProfessional attitude and appearancePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Working knowledge of Federal and State Special Education laws and practicesExperience working with Student Information Systems (e.g., Powerschool)Familiarity with the Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI) application, pupil accounting, and other mandated reportsMSBO Specialist in Educational Data (SED) Certification or willingness to obtainExperience with Public Consulting Group systems such as EDPlanExperience in reading, writing, and/or implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinate mandatory Michigan and federal reporting for Marquette-Alger RESA including, but not limited to, Educational Entity Master (EEM), General Collection, Early Childhood Collection, School Infrastructure Database Collection (SID), Student Record Maintenance (SRM), Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC), and Teacher Student Data Link (TSDL); address questions from districts related to these reportsWork with Agency staff to create process for timely and reliable pupil accounting data submissionsOversee and provide technical assistance to Agency and local district users of Student Information Systems (SIS), such as PowerSchool, Skyward, EdPlan, and other educational data systemsConfigure Powerschool for each Agency classroom program; assist in generating student transcripts; and ensure successful year-to-year rollover of the systemProvide support for Special Education System of General Supervision:Work with districts to support determinations data reviews and process implementationSupport districts in gathering necessary information for monitoring requirements related to IEP developmentAssist in Review and Analysis Process (RAP) by conducting staff interviews, reviewing procedures, and writing reportsAssist in the areas of special education student data, policies, and proceduresParticipate in monitoring activities for indicators reported in Michigan’s Special Education Annual Performance Report (APR), such as B-4 (suspension/expulsion), B-9 (disproportionate representation in special education), and B-10 (disproportionate representation - eligibility categories)Conduct research and organize information to support the creation and updating of Special Education eligibility guidelines, particularly in the areas of Speech Language Impairment (SLI), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), and Other Health Impairment (OHI)Serve as the RESA’s State Assessment Coordinator and Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) Coordinator for state assessments such as PSAT, SAT, and MSTEP; Coordinate proctors and rooms for spring testingMaintain current knowledge of pupil accounting and other state-mandated data submission requirements, Special Education System of General Supervision, and state assessments.
