We expect this position to run for 6-7 months.DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONThe Urology Clinic at UW Medical Center-Montlake diagnoses and treats patients with urologic cancer and general urology conditions. The clinic hosts the Bladder Cancer Multispecialty Clinic and the Prostate Cancer Multispecialty Clinic. UW Medical Center-Montlake Urology was recently recognized as a UW Medicine Patient Experience Top Performer for Medical Practice- Likelihood to Recommend.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESProvide care to patients with prostate, bladder, and other urologic cancersAct as the primary clinical communicator for patients and family/caregiversAct as the first line coordinator in a multidisciplinary team to coordinate plan of care and supportive care that includes: pain management, palliative care, physical therapy, nutrition servicesPerform port and PICC lining blood draws and careAssist patients, families, and caregivers to overcome healthcare system barriersProvide care coordination throughout the cancer continuum, ensuring timely accessProvide education and resources to patients, families, and caregivers about diagnoses, treatment options, side effect management, post-treatment care, and survivorshipAssess and promote healthy lifestyle choices and self-care strategies through education and referrals to ancillary servicesDevelop and use appropriate assessment tools (e.g. distress screening, pain scale, performance status)REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS2 years of recent oncology, urologic, or medical-surgical nursing experienceActive BLSActive licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington StateABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-MONTLAKEUW Medical Center is an acute care academic medical center located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
