Our communities are among the best places to live in Western Canada.Our Vision: For every person to feel at home.This is truly supported by our credo. “Let us welcome you home.” All of us here feel it is an honor to work with our residents and we advocate a resident-centered approach where the Resident is the focus of all our endeavors.As the Human Resources Advisor, you are responsible for onboarding support, employee and labour relations support, providing HR support to the leadership teams in our communities and special projects.Responsibilities:Maintain awareness of the culture, plans, financial position (where applicable), and competition of the business units (sites/communities) within the companyAssess and anticipate HR related needs within the team and the organizationWrite employment agreements for new hires and contracts for promotions and transfers in collaboration with department managementManage administrative HR direct reportsDevelop and nurture partnerships through human resources to bridge management and employeesCollaborate with business units to develop solutions and recommend policy framework to address issues of a systemic natureMediate and resolve employee relations issues; assist with thorough and objective workplace investigations, when necessary, under guidance of the Sr. Human Resources ManagerEnsure regulatory compliance with legal requirements pertinent to the day-to-day management of employees, referring complex issues to the Sr. Human Resources Manager immediatelyInterpret human resources policy and processesEnsure working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements in force within the companyOther duties as assigned to support operational requirementsQualifications and ExperienceMinimum five (5) years' experience, with increased responsibility, in Human Resources is requiredExperience in a unionized environment is preferredExperience managing direct reports is an assetCompletion of post-secondary program in Human Resources is an assetCertified CPHR or working towards certification is an assetExperience in a healthcare setting with multiple locations is an assetDemonstrated excellent client service skills and superior interpersonal skillsA compassionate and balanced approach to employee and labour relationsExcellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrating strong attention to detail and accuracyDemonstrated knowledge of provincial labour laws, workers’ compensation, and union relationsStrong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive information with tact and discretionExceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritiesStrong problem solving and analytical skillsStrong computer literacy including effective working skills with Microsoft Suite, specifically advanced Teams, Excel and OutlookAbility to work independently and in a team settingExperience working in a fast-paced environment with ever changing prioritiesTravel to communities outside of the Edmonton area as requiredBenefits of working with Optima Living:Truly awesome teammatesWelcoming work environmentOptima DaysAll the usual perks:-Dental care-Extended health care-Life insurance-RRSP match-Paid time off-Employee assistance program-Vision carePowered by JazzHROptima Living
