Organizational Overview:Dorill Initiative (DI), founded in 2018, is a multidisciplinary arts organization empowering youth to tell their stories and transform communities through artistic and creative expression, academic enrichment and community engagement. Our focus is on celebrating diversity, providing opportunities, giving respect, honoring inclusivity, showing leadership and spreading love.Position Reports To: Program DirectorPosition Summary:Artistic Coaches will play a critical role in supporting all arts education program activities including the development, execution, and evaluation of lesson planning and curriculum. Artistic Coaches will collaborate with the Program Director and Executive Director to advance their teaching skills and expand the learning for our young citizen artists. This unique opportunity is ideal for a practicing professional artist who has experience working with youth between the ages of 10-18 years old.Position Duties and Responsibilities:Plan, develop and implement art history into the curriculum to meet learning goalsDeliver lectures to students on various art forms, techniques and aestheticsPrepare and arrange materials and equipment in the classroom for young citizen artists to useGive demonstrations to young citizen artists to teach them the art of compositionInstruct young citizen artists in working in different techniquesDiscuss various artistic approaches and traditions and encourage young citizen artists to express themselves artistically, professionally, and most importantly, personallyOrganize showings and performances to display their compositions and help them develop their portfoliosSupport the program team and leadership in expanding programs, attend program team meetings (as necessary) and participate in strategic discussions regarding the mission and vision of Dorill InitiativePosition Qualifications and Experience:DanceBachelor’s Degree and/or 2-4 years of versatile work experience in the dance industry (i.e. background and knowledge in more than one genre of dance)Passionate about dance and working with children to implement effective dance instructionExceptional interpersonal & intrapersonal skills and commitment to representing Dorill’s mission, vision, and values with enthusiasm, warmth and professionalismExcellent organizational, critical and problem solving skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, do-it-yourself, start-up environmentWorks well alone as well as under direct supervisionOutstanding written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrates a professional demeanor whether speaking to others in-person, over the phone, or via emailAbility to lead with grace, humor and accountability for self and othersA willingness to multitask and meet pertinent deadlinesAdvanced Google Workspace skillsBIPOC local to/familiar with the Lower East Side strongly encouraged to apply.Position Compensation:Job Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt EmployeeSaturday Arts Program: 1 Day/Weekly at $50/hr for Coaching + $25/hr for AssistingAfter School Arts Program: 2 Days/Weekly at $50/hrSummer Arts Program: 5 Days/Weekly at $50/hr for Coaching + $25/hr for AssistingDorill Initiative, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
