We focus on engineering, and helping demystify youth and parents about what engineering means. We want to showcase the amazing research, programs, and fields of study within engineering and how they are used in the real world. Our mission is to provide fun, interactive engineering experiences to youth.PositionReporting to the Manager, the Team Lead, Programming ensures that all areas of programming meet or exceed Alberta and British Columbia Education Curriculum standards while creating award winning programming that gets participants excited about engineering.This role also creates and implements programming and goals that are consistent with the Fred Otto DiscoverE program, the Faculty of Engineering, and the University of Alberta's goals and objectives for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI).DutiesInitiates, implements and directs the development of the Fred Otto DiscoverE program's curriculum including, courses, workshops, conferences, camps and presentations for 30,000 students and over 100,0000 members of various communities across Alberta and beyondConceives, develops and implements the necessary program delivery structure, including the profiles for all instructing personnel, recruitment and retention strategies and training and quality controlConceive, develops and implements a quality control systemBased on the budget established, delivers and disseminate an annual schedule of the overall programming and secure the hiring of the necessary instructing personnel, the material resources and the locationsActs as an ambassador of the Fred Otto DiscoverE program for advancement eventsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Education, Engineering, Sciences or a related fieldPrevious experience in supervision or in a leadership role requiredTraining in using all permanent materials is required, this is everything from 3D printers to Vandergraph machinesSuperior communication skills and customer service skillsExcellent conflict-resolution and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsA class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract is considered an assetSome technical skills are considered an assetFirst Nation, Metis, and Inuit background or outreach background is considered an assetAt the University of Alberta, we are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible hiring process for all candidates.
