We are looking for an experienced administrator to support the Gastroenterology Department, to oversee the patient pathway from referral to treatment, along with other admin duties. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in upcoming projects within the department, including the Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) pathway within Gastroenterology. The role involves building effective working relationships with clinical staff, regular contact with patients and a keen attention to detail.
Key roles and responsibilities to include:
- Overseeing the Clinical Assessment Service (CAS) pathway within Gastroenterology. Supporting as administrator for two consultants who lead on CAS. This involves:
- Monitoring and updating patient pathways on LUNA patients
- Liaising with consultants and patients to keep track of results and any next steps in their care
- Prepping clinics by ensuring test results are completed before booking review or follow up appointments
- Checking in and checking out of all out-patients’ appointments both face to face and virtual
- Liaising with multiple teams to ensure all outpatient appointments are booked or redirected to the correct service
- Managing the service’s general inbox
- Dealing with concerns/complaints as appropriate, immediately escalating where necessary to the appropriate manager for prompt action
- Secretary to one IBD consultant with one clinic a week

- Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
- AMSPAR/NVQ in administration
- Previous medical secretary experience and working knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Experience of dealing with the general public
- Experience of working in a busy environment
- Previous NHS experience
