Your team: The GOP (Group Operations and Platforms) department is made up of a combination of different functions that provide shared services and expert support to all the News UK brands. From delivering newsprint operations, providing shared data and analytics services, accelerating innovation or supporting strategic negotiations and partnerships with digital platforms like Apple, Google or Meta and other businesses.
Within the GOP, the Data team has a key role to provide data analysis, market intelligence and customer insights in order to facilitate better informed decisions and to ensure we put customers at the centre of what we do.
Your role: You will be responsible for the analysis and reporting of data for all the GOP functions. Reporting to the Data Lead and working in collaboration with a strong team of insights and data strategy experts.
Day to day you will:
Analyse and package complex data into clear and compelling visualisations and easy-to-use dashboards that coherently present detailed analysis to senior non-technical stakeholders.
Utilise SQL to manipulate and process data sets to enable concise reporting and analysis from our GBQ data warehouse.
Execute data analysis to find insights and make recommendations for revenue generating opportunities based on our content, audiences and relationships with the big tech platforms (e.g. Apple, Google, Facebook,...).
Analyse and exploit data to seize and unlock commercial opportunities with existing and future partners.
Work closely with the News UK Events team (News Live) to understand their data requirements and deliver the resulting analysis and reporting through open and regular communication.
Work with the retail and Newsprinters teams to report on retail sales performance and help identify opportunities to simplifying and consolidate the the operational challenge of print and help decrease the cost of sale.
You’ll have the potential opportunity to lead a team of highly skilled Analysts. People and Team management skills will be important in getting the best of the analytics resource.
Be a major contributor for News UK’s innovation initiatives (working with both the Business Innovation and Tech Innovation leads) by analysing data and generating insights to identify and support opportunities in the media digital space.
What we’re looking for from you:
You’ll love the challenge of visualising data in a meaningful and actionable way using tools like Tableau and enjoy presenting and communicating detailed analysis to non-technical stakeholders.
You have awareness of the social media and platforms industry and understand how to best analyse and visualize News UK's engagement and revenue KPIs on big tech platforms such as Apple, Google, and Facebook.
You communicate clearly and regularly with varied stakeholders to get under the skin of their requirements and manage their expectations, capturing requirements and presenting clear and compelling stories with recommendations.
You utilise SQL to manipulate and process large data sets to enable concise reporting and analysis from our GBQ data warehouse.
You thrive at telling stories using data.
