Job Description

St. Helens Community phlebotomy service are looking to recruit an experienced, compassionate, highly motivated, skilled and committed phlebotomist to join our community team to assist us in delivering high quality patient centred care within clinic and domiciliary settings across St. Helens.

The St. Helens community phlebotomy service collects blood samples from patients in a skilled, safe and timely manner from a variety of referral sources.

The successful candidate will be required to travel to various clinic venues and patients own homes across St. Helens. The hours of work are 8am – 4pm Monday to Friday. Post available 37.5 hours per week over 5 days.

We are looking for applications from candidates who consistently respect and demonstrates the trust values and behaviours and supports our strategy for 5* patient care.

An Enhanced DBS with barred lists for Adults is required for this post.

Interviews - 25th April 2023

To undertake the collection and labelling of venous blood samples from various settings across the St. Helens Borough

Transport samples to the agreed Laboratory reception within an agreed time frame.

To maintain good working relations with all members of staff and to promote effective teamwork.

To actively participate in team meetings and to inform effectively on shift handover.

To advise the Senior Phlebotomist when stocks of consumables are approaching minimum levels or to take appropriate action in ordering.

To be courteous to patient, relatives and carers

To have a manner which will put patients at ease.

To display the Trust values and behavioural standards at all times
