You don’t need any previous experience to become a support worker with Sense. We’ll give you full training for our part time and full-time roles.
Sense has a fantastic opportunity Support Workers to join our amazing Supported Living team in Stockport .
We have permanent contracts from 16 hours up to 37 hours per week, depending on your suitability/availability. Sense is offering support workers £10.75 per hour with enhanced rates for overtime and annual pay reviews/ rises.
Day shifts are between 8am and 10pm with a range of shift patterns available to suit.
Stockport Supported Living Service is a block of 12 purpose-built apartments offering specialist accommodation for people with learning disabilities or autism, to promote independence and enable them to develop life skills, with on-site 24-hour support and 1 to 1 support sessions. The service is in a lovely residential area within walking distance to Stockport Town Centre and benefits from having shops nearby. The excellent transport links make going out and about into the wider community easy for the tenants and the staff supporting them.
The service is very person-centred, and each individual has support hours that meet their specific support needs and preferences. You will work with different tenants each day and have the opportunity to work one to one with each individual. None of the individuals living at the service require support with personal care or moving and handling.
The tenants have recently been on the Coronation Street tour and have already planned a future trip to Alton Towers, they are enthusiastic about trying new things and would welcome staff members who have the same enthusiasm for community activities.
The people living at Grafton Street thoroughly enjoy meeting new people, if you are enthusiastic and positive about support work then a big welcome awaits you at Grafton Street.

Willing to attend training as needed to support you in your role.
Full UK license desirable.
Experienced working in a care setting desirable
Ability to support people with mobility problems
Experience of teamwork
Knowledgeable of multi-sensory impairments / learning difficulties is beneficial. No two days will be the same

This role in Stockport might include supporting people with:
Everyday tasks like cooking and cleaning.
Finances.
Medication and wellbeing.
Going into the community for shopping or other trips.
Their social life and nightlife.
Everyone we support is an individual, so their care is as unique as they are. You can see a more detailed description of duties in the job description attached at the bottom of this advert.
Please note, this role may include regular sleep-in shifts which are paid as an additional allowance. (This means sleeping over at the residence, with the possibility you might have to wake up to provide care in the night.) Why work for Sense?
