We help individuals to take financial control and access financial services, businesses to make smarter decisions and thrive, lenders to lend more responsibly, and organisations to prevent identity fraud and crime.

We have 20,000 people operating across 44 countries and every day we’re investing in new technologies, talented people, and innovation to help all our clients maximise every opportunity. We are listed on the London Stock Exchange (EXPN) and are a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.

Our approach to flexible working

We care about work that works, whether that’s about where you work or adjusting your hours to fit better with your life. Our flexible working practices, including our hybrid working model where you can split your working time between the office and your home, support our belief that this balance brings long-lasting benefits for our business as well as ensuring that our people can balance successful careers with their commitments and interests outside of work. So that you can love where you work, please discuss what works for you with your recruiter during the hiring process.

Accepting you, for you.

We want you to feel accepted for who you are and to feel safe, valued and to help us build a culture of true belonging. Experian is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and we take affirmative action to create a more inclusive and equitable world of work. We are committed to equal employment opportunities regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, race, ethnicity, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, Veteran status or whether you’re pregnant or on family leave.

Job Description

Customer Service is an integral part of our business. As a Customer Service Apprentice at Experian, you’ll work within our Background Checking team, get real work experience and develop your skills to unlock career opportunities.

Our Background Checking team work with a variety of clients and are responsible for verifying employment information to support hiring processes. As a Customer Service Apprentice, you’ll work with a number of component parts of the employment screening process, which will allow you to build your confidence and understanding of multiple screening methods.

Typically, you’d join into either our referencing team where you can expect to be contacting clients, candidates and referees to gather and verify information to support our service. Or you may join our systems process team, speaking with stakeholders to focus on how process improvements can be made and rolled out to continually evolve our service.

Depending on the team you join, day to day you could be:

  • Communicating with a variety of internal or external stakeholders to gather required information, using a variety of methods such as email, telephone and instant messaging.
  • Leaning how to use and navigate a variety of internal systems.
  • Considering how process improvements could be made to continually evolve our service to customers.

Working closely with your team, you will blend together a natural ability for problem solving and a keen eye for detail and making accurate decisions. Customer Service is a varied role which requires proactivity, and curiosity into ‘how things work’.

The best part of it all? The support you get from Experian. This is a great opportunity to be part of an integral team, to advance both your customer service and administration skills, as well as starting on a career path that offers great progression and learning opportunities! You may also get the chance to rotate into wider customer support teams as you progress through your apprenticeship and beyond.

Alongside your role, you’ll study towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Customer Service. The duration of the course is typically 15 months and in addition to your salary, you’ll benefit from fully paid tuition fees, as well as our support every step of the way.

If you choose to join us, you’ll receive industry training, wide-reaching career opportunities and a wealth of support through our Early Careers Network, buddy, line manager & mentor scheme. You’ll also join onto Experian’s structured 2 year Early Careers Development programme, which is packed with workshops, short-courses & online material designed to help kick-start your career.

Our concept is simple. We believe in expanding horizons – it’s what makes Experian a global leader and a Top UK Tech Employer.

Qualifications

To apply for this opportunity, you need:

  • To have obtained 5 x GCSE’s at Grade A-C/4-9 (Including Maths & English)
  • You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject.
  • Due to UK government apprenticeship funding rules, you must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years and have permission from the UK government to live in the UK (not for educational purposes) or have obtained pre-settled or settled status.

We’re looking for individuals who are proactive, eager to learn and seek help when needed. You’ll need to be a collaborative team player with very strong communication skills, as you’ll be working with a variety of people face to face, on telephone calls and live chats for example.

If you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, have great organisation skills and an ability to stay motivated to meet deadlines, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss!

Whilst we have adopted a hybrid way of working, this role is based in Nottingham and requires the successful applicant to work in the office at least two days per week. Please only apply if this would be a suitable location for you and you would be available to start in September 2023.
