About the Role:

This highly-visible, crucial Internal Communications leadership position is responsible for the strategic planning, co-ordination and delivery of proactive internal campaigns and CEO events across National Grid plc in the UK and US. Leading a best-in-class Centre of Excellence team and delivering campaigns consummate with the size of the company, you’ll work collaboratively to create engaging strategic corporate internal communications for colleagues in all parts of the business, ensuring consistency of message, while allowing for individual market dynamics.

At National Grid, we’re fully committed to net zero by building a cleaner, greener energy system. But we can’t do this alone. We need colleagues who are brimming with enthusiasm and ideas to help us build and run a decarbonised energy system for the future. Are you up for the challenge?

Key Accountabilities:

Your vast experience in Employee Communications and Engagement will enable you to strategically plan, co-ordinate and deliver proactive internal campaigns (such as Company Values, Company Vision Strategy, Culture Change and Transformation projects), organise CEO events, and fulfil important strategic projects across the business - directing work across geographies, audiences and key senior stakeholder groups. You’ll work closely with external agencies to develop internal communications content; manage tools, processes, working environment and governance; produce timely reporting to keep key stakeholders updated, whilst ensuring all milestones are delivered on time. Your influence will determine decisions on timing, content and style of communications delivered - based on robust MI, reporting and feedback of impact on audience.

About You:

You’re a professional and strategic leader in internal communications, with proven experience of directing and delivering large end-to-end internal campaigns; an unerring focus on stakeholder engagement and management; adept at working intimately with C-Suite; and exceptional writing skills. You’ve organised in-person events for Executive Leadership Teams (strategy, concept and design), and are proficient handling multiple ongoing projects, using appropriate project management methodology. In person, you’re highly organised, credible and influential, yet liberate your own creativity and curiosity. We’re open to seeing applicants from both agency background and in-house. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase your experience and ‘hold the fort’ of an exceptionally well-regarded colleague for 12 months.

What we can Offer You:

Salary up to £90,000 dependant on experience.

Plus:

  • Up to 20% annual performance bonus

  • Full electric company car, or cash alternative

  • Double-match pension scheme (for every £1 you put in we put in £2 - to a max company contribution of up to 12%)

  • Private Medical Insurance

  • 28 days holiday (plus 8 statutory days, plus the opportunity to buy more)

  • Life Assurance: 10 x your base salary

  • Access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car, health & technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.

  • Financial support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books, exam fees and time off for study leave – so long as it’s relevant to your role.

  • Family care benefits including a back-up care service for when your usual care arrangements fall through (six paid days each year as standard with the option to purchase further days).

  • Access to apps that support health, fitness and wellbeing.

Further Information:

This is a 12-month fixed term contract, covering maternity leave. Start date for the successful applicant must be late September 2023 latest, to accommodate a robust month-long handover.
