Job Description

Looking for a team player with a passion for animals!

In this lead role, you will be responsible for the welfare and rehoming of the dogs, cats, rabbits ang guinea pigs in our care and as such you must be confident with domestic pets, especially cats and rabbits, ideally with experience in a ‘rescue’ or ‘veterinary’ environment.

You will be leading the team to deliver high standard animal welfare and delivering excellent customer service.

This is a varied role in a fast-paced environment and adaptability is vital! You will need a positive can-do attitude and understand that animal rescue is not 9-5, with no two days being the same, and be willing to get involved in activities away from the day-to-day operations.

The successful candidate will need to be an all-rounder with the ability to prioritise, flexible, adaptable with a calm and methodical approach.

You will need to be passionate, an articulate and strong communicator, resilient and confident working with and volunteers and staff, dealing with members of the public, working with vet professionals, potential adopters, foster carers, fundraisers, and Trustees.

Excellent administration, IT, driving, management, and organisational skills are a must with the ability to manage a wide range of tasks in this varied role.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary Duties/Key Responsibilities

Administration

On site vet/neutering clinic support and veterinary support

Communication

Answering the Charity telephone and dealing with follow up calls which may include, but not be limited to, the following:

Vet Care/Animal Enrichment

On-site personnel

Health and Safety

Equality and Diversity

Other

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Education:
Essential - Educated to a secondary school level.

Appropriate Qualifications:
Essential - Full manual driving license.
Desirable - Animal care qualification.

Experience / Track Record:

Essential:
A passion for animals and rescue.
Proven experience of delivering high standards of customer care.
Demonstrates commitment to H&S to ensure safe operations and environment for staff and customers.

Desirable:
Evidence of working with a range of animals / domestic pets – including dogs of all sizes, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs.
A track record in the effective management of staff / volunteers / projects.
Experience of working within the voluntary sectors, preferably within an animal welfare environment.
Experience of working with and managing volunteers.

Knowledge / Skills:

Essential:
Good IT skills (including social media) and a willingness to learn WAWs systems
(Anilog).
A strong interest in animal welfare.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
A professional empathy with the Warrington Animal Welfare vision, mission and values.
Customer service focus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable:
Working in a veterinary environment.
Driving a van (animal ambulance).
