The NFJP is a nationally directed program of services for MSFWs. The program is authorized under Section 167 of the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014 to counter the impact chronic unemployment and underemployment experienced by MSFWs who depend primarily on jobs in agricultural labor. The NFJP provides funding to community-based organizations and public agencies that assist MSFWs, and their families attain greater economic stability. The program helps farmworkers acquire new jobs skills in occupations that offer higher wages and a more stable employment outlook.
