Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Maryland invites applications for a full or advanced associate professor to begin in Fall Semester 2024. We seek applications from established scholars with national reputations and a well-established research agenda. The successful candidate will have a record of excellence in crime-related scholarship along with a strong commitment to research, purposeful mentoring, and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. They will be expected to perform essential department leadership functions, and they will be expected to contribute to the University’s priorities,
including student success, research, diversity and inclusion, and community engagement and service. A Ph.D. in criminology, criminal justice, or related discipline (e.g., sociology, political science, psychology, public policy, economics) is required, in hand at the time of application.

Our Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice has a strong research orientation, with an award-winning interdisciplinary faculty and an internationally renowned doctoral program. Department faculty regularly consult with the highest level of government and non-government agencies on policy-based research at the national, state, and local level. Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
A Ph.D. in criminology, criminal justice, or a related field (sociology, political science, psychology, public policy, economics, etc.) in hand at the time of application.

Experience:
A record of excellence in scholarship and a strong commitment to research, purposeful mentoring, teaching, service, and leadership are required.
