    Reporting Relationship
    Reports to: Direction is received from the Vice President of Industry Partnerships & Community Engagement.
    Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over faculty and staff for assigned areas.

    Job Summary
    Responsible for providing divisional leadership supporting the mission, vision and strategic goals of the College. Responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation and management of assigned instructional programs, services, budget and division employees. Provides leadership in curriculum, academic assessment and budgeting. Fosters collaborative working relationships with internal and external counterparts to communicate and coordinate initiatives that support College and instructional goals. Includes the following instructional programs and related courses: Automotive, Aviation Maintenance, Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Welding, Computer and Information Systems, and Apprenticeship programs, including but not limited to Electricians and Tool and Die/Precision Machinist.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Related duties may be assigned.
    • Manage the overall operations of the division.
    • Provide employee supervision and accountability, including recruitment, selection, orientation, scheduling, evaluation, coaching, rewards/recognition, promotion, and discipline in accordance with College policy and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
    • Provide strategic, innovative leadership in the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the division and related programs and services.
    • Provide leadership in curriculum design, instructional delivery, accreditation and assessment activities.
    • Provide leadership in developing and implementing programs with marketable, stackable credentials that promote career pathways.
    • Foster collaborative relationships with regional school districts, employers, trade associations, and other institutions of higher education to create seamless learning opportunities for students.
    • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with College employees, actively participate on and/or lead various College committees, meetings, and work groups.
    • Serve as the liaison to other division and departments of the College relating to College initiatives, academic programs, physical assets, and facilities. Ensure that the division is aligned with the priorities and strategic initiatives of the College.
    • Promote formal co-curricular learning opportunities that complement the programming of the division.
    • Implement the policies and procedures of the College, and when necessary, develop processes and systems that align to those of the College and enhance instruction and student success.
    • Approve student requests for course waivers, exemptions, and substitutions in consultation with Chairs and faculty.
    • Maintain confidentiality of student records, personnel files, and other sensitive information.
    • Ensure division employees provide excellent customer service and a welcoming, supportive, and respectful work and learning environment. Investigates and resolves requests and concerns per College procedure.
    • Ensure that division faculty and staff are kept informed of College initiatives and are represented on appropriate College committees and task forces.
    • Direct the semester class scheduling and faculty assignments in coordination with other areas of the College.
    • Ensure class coverage and notification of students as a result of faculty absences.
    • Ensure that course descriptions, course syllabi and other course materials are current and in accordance with guidelines, and maintain files of these documents.
    • Oversee maintenance of accurate catalog information, advising materials and division and related department content on the Rock Valley website.
    • Serve as budget manager, including development and oversight of division and department budgets, controlling and ensuring spending within the budget allocation, and developing cost estimates for future division needs.
    • Recommend appropriate course fees in light of unit costs of programs within the division.
    • Where applicable and as required, ensure that accreditation reports are prepared and that programs are aligned to and addressing the requirements of industry standards.
    • Regular attendance is expected; some evening and weekend hours are required.
    • Using tact and courtesy, the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with persons contacted in the course of work.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    A minimum of a Master’s degree in one of the disciplines taught in the division OR an MBA OR a Master's degree in Education, Curriculum/Instruction or a closely related field.
    • Minimum of three - five years of supervisory/management experience required.
    • Higher education teaching experience preferred.
    • Administrative experience in higher education preferred.
    • Experience developing marketable, stackable credentials that promote pathways to certificates and associates degrees that address the needs of secondary and adult learners preferred.
    • Experience developing and implementing apprenticeship programs preferred.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Competent hands-on computer skills are required.

    Full-time Positions: (ADL, ADM, PSA)
