MajorDuties
As an Health Communications Officer you will: Lead and directs the development and implementation of a comprehensive communication and marketing program. Provide coordination and quality assurance for all communication and marketing activities. Serve as the lead strategic advisor for communication and marketing in the programmatic area. Promote, stimulate, and conduct health communication and marketing research, including formative, process, and outcome research and evaluation; researches, interprets, analyzes and applies rules and regulations related to health communication and marketing. Advance health communication and marketing by disseminating the results of communication interventions and related research and evaluation. Serve as an expert advisor on health communication and marketing research methods and projects. Organize, and directs the activities; balances workload and provides advice, guidance. Identify and set budget requirements, administers fiscal resources, and initiates request for additional resources. Serve as lead for ensuring accurate and accessible translation of complex scientific concepts and data for use by CDC partners. Lead and directs a comprehensive nationally and internationally recognized health communication and marketing program. Supervise a small contingent of positions. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work, when necessary. Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, considering difficulty and requirements of assignments as well as the capabilities of employees. Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is subject to the confidential financial disclosure requirements of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (P.L. 95-521). Therefore, if selected, you will be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 450) to determine if a conflict or an appearance of a conflict exists between your financial interest and your prospective position with the agency. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record. In order to receive credit for experience in your resume that is not within the official series and grade level of your official position, you must provide a copy of the appropriate documentation of such experience as indicated above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
