Sir William Gowers Epilepsy Assessment and Treatment centre, Chalfont St. Peter.
The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery Epilepsy service are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated band 5 nurses from Adult, Learning Disability and Mental health branches to work at Sir William Gower’s Unit at Chalfont St. Peter in Buckinghamshire. This is an exciting opportunity to work in pioneering hospital which is expanding and developing new areas in research, service development and education.
The Epilepsy service is a prestigious neurology service well known for its high quality care. Consultant neurologists and clinical nurse specialists support this team and receive referrals to this unit from both national and international sources. The service is renowned as being a centre of excellence for research. Gowers ward specialises in providing care to patients suffering with epilepsy and other associated disorders under the joint care of UCLH and the Epilepsy Society. The Epilepsy service provides a progressive multidisciplinary team which gives expert advice, education and support to patients with complex neurological disorders.
You will work with a well-established multidisciplinary team (MDT) in Epilepsy services, caring for both inpatients and outpatients. You will also be expected to support the MDT to enhance the care of newly diagnosed patients including their relatives and carers. In addition the candidate will also be required to provide education to the service users and allied health professionals with UCLH Trust.
