Newhaven Community ward is a 34 bedded rehabilitation unit in Newhaven, East Sussex. We are seeking to recruit motivated, Health Care Assistant's to join our supportive and compassionate team.
- To assist patients to carry out personal care including meeting hygiene, nutrition and continence needs
- To assist patient to mobilise where appropriate
- Taking and recording of temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height and weight on instruction from the qualified nurse. Recording the results appropriately and reporting any abnormalities to the Nurse or Nurse in Charge
- Testing specimens and recording the results
- Under the supervision of the qualified nurse, support patients undergoing clinical procedures ensuring their comfort and safety
- To restock departmental areas as required reporting any shortages to the nurse in charge/ ward manager
- To adhere to the policy for the Control of Infection
- To maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business
- To participate in quality assurance programmes as required
- To participate in the promotion of a positive learning environment and to act as a role model at all times
- To be aware of and contribute to Clinical Governance arrangements/issues for area of work

As a Health Care Assistant you will actively participate as a member of the nursing and therapy team, and will be responsible for contributing towards the smooth and efficient running of the ward. Applicants for this role will have a keen interest in patient rehabilitation and promoting independence, combined with an ability to provide care in a compassionate and dignified manner.
Under supervision, the Health Care Assistant will assist the nursing staff in giving individualised care to patients.
