Eastleigh Borough Council is an ambitious council, recognised for our innovation, achievement and continuing to deliver high quality services in a challenging economic climate. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic person with a keen interest and experience in property law to join our supportive and professional Legal Services team.
The post will focus on providing legal support and assistance to the Council’s Asset Management team, Housing Delivery team and One Horton Heath Project.
Eastleigh Borough Council is playing an active role in ensuring delivery of affordable homes for rent and purchase in the Borough. This is undertaken both through partnership working with developers and in-house delivery models. Eastleigh Borough Council has recently reopened its Housing Revenue Account (HRA) and has a range of exciting housing projects in the pipeline. This includes the recent establishment of Leaf Homes, to provide an in-house lettings service for the properties we are developing for private rental (www.my-leaf.co.uk).
The One Horton Heath Project (https://www.onehortonheath.co.uk/ ) is delivering a 310 acre development featuring a mix of 2,500 homes, commercial premises and sports and leisure facilities. As landowner and developer, Eastleigh Borough Council is embarking on delivering a different approach to development, focusing on community, innovation and sustainability.
Our Asset Management team support a £230 million investment and operational portfolio which is attractive and diverse, encompassing an array of property types from leisure facilities, such as the distinguished Ageas Bowl, through to multi-let offices, retail sites and industrial estates.
The emphasis of the role will be on
Providing legal advice and assistance on all aspects of Commercial Property law with a particular emphasis on commercial leases;
supporting our growing Housing Delivery Programme (experience in housing law is desirable but not essential);
Supporting other legal work as required including but not limited to local government law, commercial contracts and s106 agreements.
We are keen to develop our staff and focus on growing our own successful legal team. We will consider applications from a range of experience levels. Appointment will be at Band 4, 5 or 7 depending on the skills, qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Please see the job description for further information.
