Newman Gauge is an award-winning commercial Interior Design and Project Management company. Established for over 25 years Newman Gauge remains at the forefront of Leisure Design in the UK. Based in Birmingham our enthusiastic team offer creative solutions with a strong technical understanding of the construction industry. Projects range from minor refurbishments to large-scale developments of holiday parks and major refurbishments of heritage buildings.
We are a close team and work collaboratively sharing inspiration and knowledge with experience in Hotel, High Street Retail, Restaurant, Pub, Spa, and Holiday Park Design.
We are looking for an experienced and creative Interior Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating innovative designs that meet the needs of our clients.
The applicant must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Interior Design.
- Minimum of three (3) years of commercial (preferably leisure) design experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Photoshop.
- Proactive and adaptable with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of Building Regulations and British Standards.
- Good knowledge of commercial-grade specifications of finishes.
- Driving License and own transport.
The applicant will be supervised by an Associate Director or Director and must have experience in completing the following tasks as a minimum:
- Review existing site information and research necessary market trends, local competition, and potential opportunities.
- Carry out measured surveys where necessary and complete existing plans, elevations, and section drawings.
- Develop feasibility studies and space planning layouts.
- Prepare final concept presentation boards including sourcing samples of finishes and images of furniture and fittings.
- Prepare schedules for client direct purchases such as furniture, lighting, artwork, and soft furnishings and collate quotes, and report costs.
- Produce plan layouts for finishes, lighting, and electrics.
- Produce drawings for planning applications and building regulation submissions.
- Develop design intent drawings for fitted joinery and metalwork.
- Coordinate with specialist contractors for murals, bespoke finishes, or installations.
- Actively take ownership of problems and successful resolution planning in consultation with the design leader.

Salary: £32,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
