Here at Defence Primary Health Care (DPHC), we are an inclusive and dedicated organisation working to provide excellent care to our entitled personnel!

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, organised and hardworking Band 5 Exercise Rehabilitation Instructor who will be working within our Primary Health Care team, at Rock Barracks, Woodbridge, Suffolk.

The vacancy is based at Woodbridge, however there is a requirement for the incumbent to work at RAF Honington on Wednesdays, they will also be required to work from RAF Honington whilst they are carrying out their initial training, details will be discussed at interview.

Job description

The successful postholder will be working within the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Programme (DMRP) providing a high standard of exercise-based rehabilitation including highly specialist work in the musculo-skeletal/sports and training injury area for the Population at Risk (PAR), meeting Standards for Better Health by using a multidisciplinary approach.

Part-time candidates will be considered but due to service delivery requirements it must be on a job share basis as full-time hours need to be covered.

This role is offered at 37.5 hours per week required across Monday to Fridays.

Person specification

As the successful candidate your duties include but are not limited to:

  • To perform appropriate clinical assessments and to design and implement safe and progressive exercise treatment schedules for all patients after the MO/Physiotherapist/Clinical Team Manager has made a diagnosis.
  • Support and attend weekly and monthly Special Interest Group and Clinical Governance Meetings where audit, research, service and policy development are conducted within the multidisciplinary team environment.
  • To educate, supervise and support junior colleagues and students, whilst providing a positive working environment.
  • To facilitate effective communication and co-operation with all other departmental/Unit and external medical personnel from other agencies/units.

Qualifications

a. BSc Graduate in Sports Rehabilitation and maintain Full Graduate Membership of the British Association of Sports Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT)
b. BSc Graduate in Sports Therapy and maintain Full Graduate Membership of the Society of Sports Therapy (SST).
c. Ex-military ERIs who have completed the JSERI Course.
(1) Where an ex-military ERI is employed within the Civil Service, they must have completed a return to clinical practice (RCP), prior to employment or within the first three months of employment.
d. BSc(Hons) in Physiotherapy and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
