The Role:

As an Insight Manager within Holland & Barret, your key role is to ensure we unlock value through embedding insights into core processes and guiding consumer led decision making. You will be responsible for embedding existing insight into decision making, whilst also managing new primary research, identifying and conducting primary research for your area of responsibility (Commercial & Trading teams) and synthesising secondary soures. You will leverage a range of insight techniques and champion the consumer with your stakeholders, ensuring that we put consumer insights at the heart of decision making as we develop our business.

Purpose of Role

  • To inspire and drive consumer led decision making & create value across H&B specifically Commercial & Trading teams influencing stakeholders to create better customer centric outcomes and acting as a strategic business partner
  • To design and implement insight roadmaps with stakeholders, embedding insight into key business activities to ensure that it informs our decision making

Key Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders (typically ‘Heads of' level) to develop a deep understanding of their business areas and identify key commercial risks/opportunities to improve business performance in a customer centric fashion, ensuring we meet the needs of our customers in their key missions.
  • Partner key stakeholders to proactively identify insight requirements and manage across all aspects of insights generation, including management of primary research requirements, consolidation across insights sources and development of insights using external sources.
  • Managing primary research projects utilising a range of techniques across ethnographic, qualitative and quantitative, turning these into outstanding stories that land with impact and drive better business outcomes.
  • Across all methodologies, provide compelling outputs – delivering actionable insights to the business and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactively seek out and apply innovative research and insight techniques as appropriate to improve insight quality, impact and efficiency.
  • Create and populate evaluations to assess performance across the end-to-end consumer journey, making recommendations for continuous improvement and drive action. Support preparation of future business cases for varying levels of stakeholders
  • Manage third party relationships working with brilliant agencies and tools to deliver the required returns.
  • Champion the consumer and shopper voice internally, ensuring that we put consumer insights at the heart of business decision making and deliver value across H&B.
  • Work with our insight colleagues, sharing & adopting best practice and insight to provide a singular, consistent consumer views and one version of the truth, making H&B Insight team one of the best

Commercial & Trading Specific

  • Insights commercial lead for Beauty & Portfolio teams, partnering across all aspects of insights generation, including management of primary research requirements, consolidation across insights sources and driving up business performance in a customer centric fashion
  • Lead insights for annual insights, category management, range reviews & NPD (all aspects of the commercial lifecycle including packaging/innovation testing), with support from other members of the insight team as relevant to drive customer centric action and business performance.
  • Build understanding of and embed insight on key customer missions into the commercial teams and ensuring appropriate action is taken to drive business performance. Share insight across other stakeholders as relevant
The Person:
  • Skilled in senior stakeholder management, with a proven track record demonstrating ability to identify, establish and effectively manage senior stakeholder relationships on strategic and insight topics
  • Outstanding communication skills, capable of simply articulating complex data and insight with authority to colleagues of all levels and making the case for change – outstanding story teller
  • Ability to join up insights from across different sources to provide the business with a holistic understanding of critical consumer issues and opportunities to drive business performance in a customer centric manner
  • Strong strategic and structured thinking with a commercial focus to help drive the business forward and exceed targets
  • Proven insight collection, integration, management and interrogation experience – using data to produce actionable insight that delivers impact across qualitative and quantitative methodologies
  • Passion for data and insight – with an analytical and curious mindset, and skilled at analysing data sets from a variety of often complex data sources to create compelling insight
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to define and drive requirements both effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to relentlessly prioritise their own workstack, understanding where to spend time to create the greatest business impact
  • Experience in strategy, insight or commercial roles (or a mix) either client side or at a strategy consultancy or research agency
  • Strong team player
  • Result driven, with strong attention to detail, execution, follow-up and a focus on quality

Location:

The company has a base in London and Nuneaton and some travel will be required to both locations, however the role is predominately based in Nuneaton. There may also be occasional travel outside of the UK.
