Job overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join the Acute Research Delivery Team (ARDT) as a Research Assistant - Band 4. This is a 15-Month Fixed Term position.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the trial delivery, recruitment, and study management for the ABRIMS trial (Assessment of Brain-injury using Radio-Frequency Induction and Microwave Spectroscopy).

Stroke is one of the most significant causes of morbidity and death and its consequences can leave survivors with life-long disabilities. The chances of recovering from stroke are greatly improved if the right therapy can be delivered at the right time. This study looks to use Radio-Frequency Induction and Microwave Spectroscopy to detect ischaemia, haemorrhage, and cerebral oedema. The aspiration is that this technology will serve to improve patient outcomes resulting from stroke and can be used pre-hospital to significantly improve the percentage of patients received time critical treatment at the most appropriate stroke unit.

We are looking for a motivated and effective communicator with a ‘can do’ attitude and an eye for detail; they will need to take ownership and delivery of their work with a desire to develop their research skills. You should be organise/able to prioritise and demonstrate initiative, within the ethically approved confines of the study protocol and Good Clinical Practice (GCP); able to thrive on challenges and be an effective problem solver.

Main duties of the job

Some of your key responsibilities would likely include:
  • Screening and recruiting eligible participants for ABRIMS study
  • Give information to eligible participants about the study and obtaining informed consent
  • Collecting and recording study data accurately and in accordance with GCP guidelines
  • Undertaking study assessments and recording study measurements accurately in Case Report Forms (CRF’s)
  • Administering interventions and treatments as per study protocol
  • Monitoring participants safety and reporting adverse events
  • Communicating effectively with the research team and other healthcare professionals involved in the trial
  • Ensuring that study documentation is maintained and stored securely

You will be working within the Acute Research Delivery Team (ARDT). The ARDT is a dynamic team that covers three key areas of research, namely Trauma and Emergency Care (TEC), Critical Care, and Hyper Acute Stroke. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience working on a range of studies but with a primary focus on the delivery and recruitment for the ABRIMS study. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative research team and contribute to the improvement of patient care. If you have the skills and experience required, we would love to hear from you. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any further questions.
