Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Project Engineer

Salary: £43,500 + Dependent upon experience

Location : Peterborough

Benefits: 25 days annual leave,

Up to 10% bonus

Contributory pension scheme- Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution Up to 10%

Contributory share scheme- Caterpillar will match 50% of the employee's contribution

Job Opportunity:

As the Senior Manufacturing Project Engineer reporting to the GMET Global Manufacturing Optimisation Manager you will be required to generate future growth opportunities for our business by implementing cost reduction and continuous process improvement activities that support our future growth strategic objectives. You must build and maintain positive relationships with clients and be able to influence leaders by making a creditable case for change based on your experience and Lean technical capabilities. It is vital to have a coaching style to be collaborative and facilitative, rather than directive. You must be able to work with diverse teams and communicate effectively with both leaders and others in the organization. Must be a results-oriented change agent. You must have the ability to lead and learn with humility, while maintaining a neutral and professional manner.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Leading and delivering diverse multi-disciplinary projects (including new equipment) within agreed timescales and to budget.

  • Writing and reviewing complex technical design documentation and test protocols.

  • Establishing project scope and creating justifications.

  • Drive and lead agreed to cost savings projects to the Business via process improvements and waste reduction initiatives.

  • Planning resources and schedules for assigned projects.

  • Project manage capital projects from initial feasibility through to successful completion and control the budgets.

  • Promote lean and quality as a focus within the business.

  • Provides direction and guidance to other manufacturing personnel in a continuous effort to improve manufacturing productivity.

  • Works with suppliers (both internal and external) in the development of projects, which ensure the most efficient and cost-effective systems or operations to produce quality products.

Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate will have strong engineering and industry knowledge and a consistent track record of successfully delivering high-value projects within a manufacturing environment. You will have excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills on all levels, including senior leadership. You will have a broad business sense with excellent organisational, finance and planning skills and be creative when overcoming obstacles in delivering projects. You will also have effective ‘managing without authority’ skills and be flexible in your outlook.

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Drive projects and be enthusiastic to realise the end benefits.

  • Proficient communication and organisational skills.

  • Proven competence and previous success in leading significant projects.

  • Strong experience in mid to high level automation.

  • Experience working with third party suppliers.

  • Open-Minded with objective thinking.

  • Problem Solver who is excels in situations around complex automation equipment in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

  • Manufacturing related work experience.

Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

  • Degree qualification in an Engineering, Manufacturing, or another Technical discipline

  • Experience in the application of lean methodologies including Six Sigma and Kaizen improvement tools.

  • Experience with CAD/CAM Software (AutoCAD, PTC Creo, SolidWorks, NX, etc.)

  • Thorough experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Experience executing project management activities with proven results.
