Key Responsibilities:

The Director – Digital Trust is a critical role in the CISO organization under Cyber & Digital Risk. This role is responsible for developing a digital trust program, defining critical metrics to demonstrate United’s dedication to good digital citizenship for their employees, business partners, and customer by using data, reinforcing ethical security and data protection practices and increase data privacy visibility. Objectives include ability to attract, hire, and retain data protection and data privacy engineers that will support the comprehensive planning and activation operations via technology and process capability engineering. Additionally, to develop strategy, proactive framework, and digital trust center, the role objectives include collaborating cross functionally with teams such as legal privacy counsel, HR, Commercial, and Digital Technology

  • Develop a digital trust program and define KPI's to demonstrate United’s dedication to good digital citizenship for their employees, business partners, and customer by using data, reinforcing ethical security and data protection practices and increase data privacy clarity
  • Launch a Digital Trust Center that demonstrates dedication to transparency and accessibility, ethics and responsibility, privacy and control, security, and reliability by proactively keeping the public informed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Partner with Privacy counsel in optimizing data privacy and protection operations to ensure appropriate digital rights management
  • Collaborate with relevant cross-functional teams including application and product teams to advise roadmaps and incorporate digital trust requirements and features into processes and technology capabilities
  • Lead the Cyber Digital Trust team
  • Attract, hire, and retain cyber engineers across data protection, data privacy, and data risk domains
  • Coach and mentor individuals at all levels of the organization, demonstrating tangible results and growth in your people
  • Lead planning, establishment and management of digital trust operations, technology, and organization
  • Collaborate with and gain alignment with cross-functional teams on roles, responsibilities, and delivery model
  • Develop initiative-taking frameworks for addressing digital trust that encompass data privacy and data protection as well as responsible use of data
  • Implement corresponding metrics program to track maturity, evolution, and health of the program over time
  • Work with senior leadership to keep them advised, involved, and encouraged on progress

This position is remote and would require approximately 10- 20% travel.

Qualifications

What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience (STEM)
  • 12+ years of related work experience
  • 5+ years leading and mentor teams to their highest potential
  • 4+ years of proven experience identifying, and remediating cybersecurity, technology, or operational risks related to data
  • Proven track record to make decisions in a timely manner
  • Both a doer and leader who can operate at a granular level on data protection and privacy matters and able to raise up and work across high levels of the organization
  • Able to adjust style to meet the needs of the audience, incorporate business core drivers, apply systems thinking, and have a bias for action
  • Enthusiastic about cybersecurity, technology, and protecting United’s digital footprint
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, standards, and frameworks (PCI, Data Privacy Laws, IOS27001/2, NIST, HITRUST, CIS, etc.)
  • Proven understanding of cybersecurity principals, standard processes, and technology with applied experience leading security risks associates with data privacy and data protection
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master's degree (Cybersecurity, Information Technology)
  • Security industry credential such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or ISACA’s Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
