Job Description

THE POSITION

Are you interested in a career working in a Design Unit? If you are, then PennDOT has a position for you! The Engineering District 12 is currently seeking applicants for an Engineering Technician in the Design Unit. Apply today for this rewarding career opportunity!


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position participates in a 12-month training program performing technical work of a training nature in support of a Highway Design Unit. You will assist supervisor with all phases of work to ensure squad operations are conducted efficiently and effectively; participate in preparation of a wide variety of highway plans, right of way plot plans and similar supplemental drawings; computing quantities for construction items such as pavement, drainage items, guide rail, excavation; and participate in field views to examine the existing drainage, contour of land and any physical condition or problems which are taken into consideration in preparing the final design.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Uniontown.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
