Counter Terrorism Policing is a collaboration of police forces to help protect the public and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity. We do this by working in local to global partnerships - from neighbourhood policing teams supported by a national network of specialist officers and staff, to our investigators and expert advisors globally.

Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW) is one of five Counter Terrorism Units (CTUs) within a National Counter Terrorism Policing (NCTP) Network, designed to strengthen the UK’s response to the threat from terrorism.

In April 2018, the North West Counter Terrorism Unit (NWCTU) was rebranded to Counter Terrorism Police North West (CTPNW), reflecting a collaborative restructure in operations. As a result, changes have been actioned to streamline processes across the NW region to ensure they are consistent, maximise opportunities and deliver unified working.

CTPNW manages and coordinates the operational counter terrorism response on behalf of the five North West forces: Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside. It also offers CT assistance and guidance to the Isle of Man Constabulary. Additionally, it houses a number of unique national CT capabilities that sit outside of regional operations and operate on behalf of CTP Headquarters. These national functions focus on the delivery of activities that afford support across the entire UK CTP Network.

The RRD Team will be based in the CTP North West. As a Manager in the RRD Team, you will manage a team of Practitioners in the delivery of RRD across the national CT network.
Working within a busy environment as part of a brand new team you will manage a team making risk-based decisions, ensuring records are reviewed and retained for a CT network policing purpose or destroyed in compliance with CTPs legal obligations

Due to the sensitive nature of the role, Developed Vetting is required before successful candidates can commence training.

Successful candidates will receive RRD training that will be both classroom and office based. This training will last for 8-12 weeks and must be completed in full. As such, annual leave can only be granted by exception during this time.

Please note once training for the role concludes and the team reaches full strength, there will be a contractual requirement to work a shift pattern in which the operating hours will be between 8am -10pm. This shift pattern will attract a 14% shift allowance. .

Once the team is established and running you will have the opportunity to shape the future of RRD practice across the CT network, through newly established working group and steering group frameworks.

Greater Manchester Police have been informed of potential personal tax implications for members of the 1987 Police Pension Scheme, who retire and take a pension between the ages of 50 and 54 inclusive and then take up employment as a Police Staff member. Members of the police pension scheme whose age is between 50 and 54 who are re-employed as a Police Staff member have to meet certain conditions to keep their PPA and to protect against personal tax liability charges on any payments paid before the age of 55.
