Security officer
Main Duties:
- Supporting a prestigious client on a Border Control Post which is an inspection post designated and approved in line with GB legislation for carrying out checks on animals and animal products arriving from third countries at the GB border. These checks are carried out to protect animal and public health, and animal welfare.
- This role plays a pivotal role in ensuring that traffic in Ashford keeps moving and lorries carrying our exports can successfully cross the border into the EU.
- You must be confident when dealing with members of the public and able to react to any situation that may arise and support in the escalation or de-escalation of any situation.
- Have a professional manner when dealing with all staff members and visitors to ensure correct access authorisation levels are achieved.
- Can work in a high pace and high-risk environment, ensuring vehicles are correctly inputted as per their status, contents and parked within the correct zone and bay.
- Perform regular foot and vehicle patrols of the perimeter and main buildings to ensure the security of the site is maintained.
- You must spot and stop all suspicious sightings or potential criminal activity and retain full control until the arrival of emergency services.
- You must record, report, and escalate all sightings and arrests on a regular basis.
- Monitoring of heavy goods vehicle, entry, parking and exit site within a set time, when site reaches its capacity threshold or limit.
- Accurately updating and monitoring Site Capacity and vehicle movement by updating the PINC system with vehicle entries, parking bays and exits.
- Comply with assignment instructions and workplace risk assessments.
- Ensure site access control policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Be always alert and aware regarding your own Health and Safety and the safety of others.
- Be vigilant always when on site and report and escalate any concerns as appropriate.
- Report immediately any accident or incident inclusive of any near miss occurrences.
- To ensure that site Covid-19 procedures are followed.
- Always ensure that you wear the issued uniform and PPE.
QUALIFICATIONS
- You will need to be a team player with an enthusiastic attitude.
- Valid SIA Licence is mandatory.
- Be able to work on own initiative.
- Similar Security experience desirable.
- Flexible approach to work to suit the business needs.
- Ability to go above and beyond to support the client.
- Excellent communication skills are required both written and verbal.
- Understand the Health and Safety at Work Act, relevant Criminal, Civil Law and Police and Criminal Evidence Act.
- All necessary training will be provided which will include first aid, LANTRA & environmental spills training.
