At Swindon Borough Council, we want our town to be the best it can be. Our ambitious vision is supported by realistic transformation programmes, with the people of Swindon at their heart. Because that’s who we’re doing it for – the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you’ll support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It’s all for better public services. Better processes. And a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.

We now have an excellent opportunity for a Level 3 Learning & Development Administrator Apprentice to join our centralised specialist team.

Your next role

We are committed to growing our own talent internally and apprenticeships are essential to help us achieve this.

In this key role, you will provide administration support to the Learning and Development team and act as the first point of contact for queries on learning events, E-learning and training. You’ll be responsible for receiving and resolving enquiries through phone calls, emails and correspondence.

You will also organise and book the delivery of a range of training for Swindon Borough Council employees ensuring training events are recorded. This may include some external bookings. In addition, you will support with the administration of Leadership and Organisational Culture programmes to ensure timely bookings and coordination of training sessions.

This is a fast paced role and would suit a self-motivated, driven individual with a willingness to learn.

Working in L&D in a local authority enables you to experience working with multiple services and professional groups, from Communications and to Finance, to Children’s and Adults services.

Our small specialist internal team design, deliver and continually evaluate the L&D activity to make sure we meet the services needs and offer the best professional development support we can.

About you

You’ll have a minimum of 3 GCSEs of Grade 4/C including Maths and English or equivalent.

Knowledge of office administration including Microsoft Office software packages; Outlook, Word, and Excel is preferable. You’ll have the ability to work unsupervised and maintain confidentiality.

Good communication, organisation and customer service skills are essential, with the ability to build and develop relationships with internal and external customers.

This is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about professional development and lifelong learning to join our dynamic team, with the chance to grow and shape the L&D provision in a fast paced, challenging and supportive environment.

So, you’ll be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We’ll look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions and drive real, positive change. With your contributions, we’ll achieve our vision of a prosperous, re-vitalised Swindon by 2030 together. And you’ll be proud to say it was made better with you.
