An exciting opportunity has arisen for Support Workers to work at Langley Green Hospital (LGH), as part of the Sussex Partnership Bank Team and based in Crawley, West Sussex.
LGH is a state-of-the-art hospital in Crawley, West Sussex for people with acute mental health problems. The hospital has two acute care working age wards - Coral and Jade ward, one integrated working age/older adults ward - Opal ward , one psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) - Amber ward and a 'Place of Safety' suite called The Haven.
The staff who work across these wards are very supportive toward their fellow workers and always provide a caring environment for their service users. The ward staff are interchangeable and will help on other wards at this hospital, if the need arises. It has a strong working together team dynamic.
- Opal, Coral and Jade ward have access to a garden , lounge, a dedicated quiet room and a women's lounge. Every room is single with an en-suite.
- Amber Ward is a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and is a specialist ward for people experiencing significant amounts of distress.
- The PICU environment is intended to be secure, so the ward will be locked and the garden is secure.
- The Haven is a dedicated, mental health crisis assessment facility located on the LGH site in Crawley. Assessment is by professional referral only
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
In order to be a successful Support Worker in our team you will:
- Work with the multi-disciplinary team to establish and deliver a therapeutic programme of care for our patients.
- Undertake care duties for patients on the ward.
- Report patients condition to qualified staff
- Document care delivery in patients notes.
- Implement individual patient care plans
- Participate in meetings, training and other work related forums.
Our wards are looking for a compassionate and person- centred experienced Healthcare support worker with an ability to work in a flexible manner to meet the demands and needs of the service.
The successful applicant would be expected to work as part of the team undertaking the assessment, care and treatment of patients experiencing an acute mental health crisis, working in a recovery-orientated manner towards the ultimate discharge of the patient.

- Day: 07:00 - 19:30, 07:00 - 21:00
- Night: 19:00 - 07:30, 20:30 - 07:3
Our patients are keen for new support workers joining the team to demonstrate empathy, time to talk and listen. We are very proud of our standards and are looking for someone who is ready to learn and keen to develop. Development within this role is available as each support worker is encouraged to champion and take an interest in something on the ward which best fits their skills. Associate nurse training is also available as well as NVQ and the mandatory care certificate. Support will be provided for these.
- Parking on site is free but limited, however there is street parking close by. There is a train station in Crawley which is approximately 1.8 miles away and the bus services 4, 5 and 200 (stagecoach) all stop on Martrys Avenue. Gatwick Airport train station is also accessible but is 2.7miles in distance.
- There will be opportunities to work over a 24/7 rota which includes weekend and bank holidays.
- People with a lived experience of mental health issues are strongly encouraged to apply.
It would also be advantageous if you:
- Have experience working within a mental health setting
- NVQ Level 2 in care
