An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Key Account Manager to join our to join our growing team.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Key Account Manager is responsible for managing our customers key accounts, building & maintaining a long-term relationship with customers, and maximizing potential new revenue streams.
This is an important senior role within the business, predominantly responsible for the management and maintenance of the relationships with our Bulk Mail, E-comm and international customers. Managing a portfolio of approximately 70 million items per year. Acting as the central contact for clients, field-based teams and Operations. Although this is a National sales role, there will be a focus upon several E-comm clients based around central and southern England.
The role will be part of the Sales and Business Development function with line reporting to the Head of Key Accounts and will be subject to specific commercial and activity targets as agreed.
MAIN DUTIES:
- Focusing on retaining and developing existing clients and generating new business and cross sales within existing accounts. Development and implementation of a Portfolio time
- Act as the key interface between the customer, Operations, and Finance departments positioning the role internally and externally as the `key contact’ to ensure excellent customer service and development of the customer relationship.
- Implement a time management plan to ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness of portfolio management.
- Involvement in all relevant new business meetings and hold responsibility for the effective handover of new clients from the new business team and into Key Account Management.
- Liaise closely with Finance colleagues to ensure acceptable customer pricing matrices which provide the necessary returns for the business and work closely with sales colleagues.
- Attend client and operational meetings and conference calls as appropriate.
- Provide input and support for the forecasting process
- Manage and control the individual Customer tariffs and respond to quotation requests immediately to support securing the business.
- Attendance at monthly Sales Meetings and prepared to share monthly performance and activities supporting the commercial plan as required
- Effective use of TDG’s ‘Sales force’ database.

ABOUT YOU:
- Good relationship builder and communicator across multiple functions, for example operations and client services. Concise communication techniques to deliver the correct information to all levels of the business.
- Effective at being organised and highly efficient. Able to prioritise workload and meet activity KPI’s relating to portfolio management
- Able to multi tasks and managing conflicting prioritise and deadlines
- Highly self-motivated, target driven and able to work independently to a consistent high level of output
- A strong problem solver and capable of creating solutions, making decisions, and suggesting recommendations for action.
- A Commercial grounding and understanding of the full cost to process services. Able to act and work upon own initiative to provide an output which makes commercial sense
- Effective stakeholder engagement and management
- Previous experience in Account Management, Sales or customer facing role is preferable with knowledge of the Downstream Access Marketplace
- Strong account management and relationship building skills. Experience of managing large accounts is desirable
- PC literate with the ability to quickly pick up and understand the technical platforms and processes used by the business
- An eye for developing the commercial proposition into measurable actions and activities, a persuasive negotiator with a flair for retaining clients in contract, identifying the growth opportunities, selling and cross selling into prospective and existing clients are all essential attributes for the role.
